Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - North Course

I played the north course, the course itself was in pretty good shape. The greens were quick and rolled true, while being very receptive. The pace of play was slow, teed off at 1:18 p.m. barley finished before dark. Course, seemed short staffed, lack of carts, only saw beverage cart once in 5 plus hours of play. Maybe just an off day, i'll wait a while and try again, maybe they can work it out. For the money, you expect a certain level service, this day Lake Jovita did not deliver.

The course was in great shape. The greens rolled nice and very fast. Very hard golf course. Select the right tees.

This is my 2nd time playing the LJ North Course. Got a good hot deal rate on Golf Now. The course is in really good condition overall, especially given the rain we had less than 2 weeks ago from Hurricane Matthew. A few greenside bunkers were still wet and packed, but most were dry. Greens are fairly fast and in very good shape. Most fairways are wide. The course has some challenging holes, but is fair,. Cart girl came around 2 or 3 times. Good selection of snacks and drinks. Restrooms on both 9's. Nice clubhouse and pro shop. Cart was in good condition, clean, and plenty of "juice" for 18 holes. Didn't need it, but carts do have rain hoods to cover your clubs if needed. I'm a "distance challenged" senior, and I try to keep the total distance down to around 6000 yards, so I played the green tees on the front 9 and white tees on back 9. Worked out well. Would play this course again, and I recommend it. Would like to play the South Course sometime, but there seems to be fewer good tee times available, and higher greens fees for that circuit.

We played 36 in mid-September and found the experience disappointing all around. The North Course was definitely the highlight with a fun, playable layout that was in good condition. The South Course conditions left much to be desired with many tees and greens showing a lot of wear and tear. In addition many of the bunkers were full of water, while others were fine. Personally didn't appreciate the layout either with a 380yd par 4 opening hole where you can only hit 200yds off the tee leaving a mid-to-long iron in. Then you get to hole #3 which would be a fun, drivable Par 4 later in the round but doesn't offer much to aim at early in the round. After the first 4 holes it gets better but really didn't enjoy the opening stretch.

Probably the most disappointing was the service level. From the bag drop/cart staff (virtually non-existent/do-it-yourself) to pro shop staff (borderline unprofessional) to beverage carts (understaffed and splitting time between snack bar and the course) the service was generally lacking. Certainly not a place I would go out of my to get to in the Tampa area.

By far the best courses in the area. I like the north better than the south but both are quality tracks. Everything was in good shape yesterday except the greens. Still showing signs of aerating and were very bumpy. Otherwise the entire experience was great. Give it a couple of weeks and I'm sure the greens will be great too. Looking forward to my next round here.

First of all they would not accept a pre-purchased gift certificate. Range balls were overpriced at $7 per small bucket, pace of play was terrible and when we called pro shop to inform them of huge course backup they come out but didn't respond to the problem. Very disappointing round of golf! I won't be returning.

Lake Jovita is one of my favorite courses in the Tampa area. The course conditions were good considering it is summer in Florida. The greens, with one or two exceptions, were perfect. Fairways, immaculate. Bunkers....packed sand because it rains almost daily. Elevation changes are so welcome compared to the rest of flat Florida course. HOWEVER.....there was virtually NO WATER for drinking. Four or five holes have coolers. Three coolers had ice....but no water. There was no drink cart service either. The temperature was 96 degrees. There is no clubhouse at the turn.....so If the course is not going to provide water or drink cart service....then I say, Bring A Cooler.

Played north course very fun fast greens challenging but very fun

Another great day at Jovita. You now have to request range balls in the pro shop, they don't leave on the range (ours were free). Complimentary water bottles on the first tee. Course in good shape, except the sand traps were hardpan from lots of rain, and some had water in them.

I have never played Jovita before but would definitely return after the excellent experience there. Course is well manicured and offers different elevations on each hole, which is rare in Florida. Greens were fast and rolled true. They offer a North and South course which are both challenging in their own right. Our group was able to finish our round in under 4 hours with many parties ahead and behind us. We never waited in the tee box or on the fairway to take our shots. Great round and course. Looking forward to playing again.

The layout of this course was just spectacular. The only suggestions would be to give out a layout of the holes. Make getting lunch easier. Next time we know to plan ahead. Minor stuff in the whole scheme of things. Their course management was on point. We can't wait to play there again.

Some of the greens on this north course were in very poor condition. At least one of the green was unputtable. A couple others needed some serious attention. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Took two of my buddies here because the course is always in great shape. We played the North (South was closed) so it was much busier than normal in the summer. Took 4 hours and 45 minutes to play 18 which is brutal. Half the greens had large dead spots on them (most of the greens that are exposed are in good shape). Price was right but I won't go back until greens are in better shape.

The course for the most part was in great condition. There were a couple of greens that need some work. Overall, I love coming to Lake Jovita because both course are always a challenge and a great atmosphere.

Several greens are in bad shape with a couple being un-playable, Tee boxes need major work. It was a shame to see what was a fine course now being mismanaged.

Definitely not worth the $60 greens fee.

Greens was under par as it was punched a month ago and some patches in bad condition, but usually in great shape.

First time playing this course, private country club feel. Course was in great condition. Fair greens and generous landing areas. Definately going back to this gem

Cant believe they did not say anything about the shape of the greens. Would not have played there.

Both courses were challenging. North a little better condition than South. Backdrop of St. Leo college beautiful. Fast and true greens. A few holes were cart path only but nice walk in the park. North 77, South 76.

Course was in great shape except at least 7 of the greens had burnout on up to 50%. Really sorry to see that. The greens that were not in trouble were excellent.
