Subtle but enticing, Crandon is a well-planned challenge built in 1972 by Robert von Hagge and Bruce Devlin. In 1993, a redesign by von Hagge brought new greens and bunker configurations. Formerly known as "The Links at Key Biscayne" Crandon Park Golf Course is a championship 18-hole golf course located on the "island paradise" of Key Biscayne, just 10 minutes from downtown Miami.

The course has the world's largest tee, seven saltwater lakes, challenging sand traps, mangrove thickets, and many holes overlooking Biscayne Bay.

You can see crocodiles (they have three), numerous raccoons and Jurassic-sized iguanas darting across the course. The blue and tri-colored herons, white ibises, snowy egrets, pelicans and anhinga grace the fairway roughs and saltwater banks.

From the first hole - a dogleg par 5 that requires a drive over water and mangroves - to the last - another par 5 with water on both sides of the fairway - Crandon Park Golf Course has, in many ways, become Miami-Dade's signature public golf course.

Great Value but Horrible Pace

The course has some serious potential - they need to increase the price a bit and space out the tee times. It took 3 hours to play the front 9, and we just left after 4/5 holes on the back.

Beautiful Course but Needs Course Marshall

The course itself was amazing. However, we had two individuals behind us that were playing way too fast even though they were twenty minutes late to their tee time. The group in front of us was a large group that was playing at a normal pace and we did not feel lile bothering them. I would definitely play again, but I think there needs to be someone that periodically monitors the course.

Poor communication

I played yesterday for my birthday, drove 45 minutes to get there not one time was I notified by Golf Now that the course was under heavy maintenance and that you had to play the back nine twice being that they were working on the front line and for $110 you have to be out of your mind

The over all condition was just ok but the greens were nice the fairways and tee boxes need some work to them

Will not be going back anytime soon dave your money and play some place else

Crandon Bay

Heard a lot about this course and given the history of Senior tournaments it was highly anticipated but came away less than impressed.

Conditions were very good, impressive for public courses in summer in Miami, but multiple blind tee shots just became tiresome.

Extremely slow play and never saw a marshal trying to push anyone along.

Take caution on Number 1 fairway - I hit a great blind tee shot over trees on this par 5 dogleg left with only 200 to the green. While waiting for the green to clear I was nearly hit by 3 of 4 tee shots from the group behind me.

Take caution on number 7 tee box (par 3) as it sits next to the end of a short driving range. As we pulled up to the tee we wondered why all of these green balls were everywhere and then it was madness trying to a hit a tee shot as ball after ball thumped on our tee box.

It was nice to play outside of my rotation of Biltmore-Trump-Eagle Trace and Emerald Hills but I would not go out of my way to play here again.
