Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne
About
Subtle but enticing, Crandon is a well-planned challenge built in 1972 by Robert von Hagge and Bruce Devlin. In 1993, a redesign by von Hagge brought new greens and bunker configurations. Formerly known as "The Links at Key Biscayne" Crandon Park Golf Course is a championship 18-hole golf course located on the "island paradise" of Key Biscayne, just 10 minutes from downtown Miami.
The course has the world's largest tee, seven saltwater lakes, challenging sand traps, mangrove thickets, and many holes overlooking Biscayne Bay.
You can see crocodiles (they have three), numerous raccoons and Jurassic-sized iguanas darting across the course. The blue and tri-colored herons, white ibises, snowy egrets, pelicans and anhinga grace the fairway roughs and saltwater banks.
From the first hole - a dogleg par 5 that requires a drive over water and mangroves - to the last - another par 5 with water on both sides of the fairway - Crandon Park Golf Course has, in many ways, become Miami-Dade's signature public golf course.

Worst golf experience ever
The staff were not helpful or knowledgeable upon arrival. We were told the driving range was closed yet there were certain people allowed to hit balls on the range. The only warmup area consisted of a green that is about the size of a living room rug that was horribly maintained. The drainage is horrible!! There are too many people playing on the course and it took us just under 40 minutes from tee off to tee box on #2. We left after one hole and played Top Golf. This was a complete waste of time and money since this was one of two courses we chose for our golf trip. Do not play this course!!!!
Very disappointed
Let me first start this review by saying we have played this course maybe 10 times before, last time was 2 years ago. We were able to get a deal from Golfnow, so we only paid 60$ per player instead of 100$. So this review is really based on the expectations of a 100$ round. When we arrived, there was nobody to help us put our bags on a cart. We paid, spoke to the starter who told us to pick any cart and put our bags ourselves on it. There were only a few carts available and none of them had a working GPS. The group in front of us picked the last one. I will try to repeat verbatim what the starter then told us. “ no too far ahead of you, there is a group of 3 guys, very nice guys, but they are a bit drunk so they may be slow. Also, right in front of you, there is a group of 5 playing together. They asked for the cart girl and I think they are putting some money on the game. So they could be slow as well, so get close to them and put pressure on them. You know this is a public course, so, you know….” I will not repeat here the rest but it was not really better. On the course, we never saw any player assistant to try to keep a decent pace of play. To top it off, the course was in only fair condition and the greens were not really good, having even weed growing in them. When we finished the round, nobody was there to wash our clubs and take them off the cart. Needless to say, we were expecting a little bit more as far as service is concerned on a 100$ a round course. We will never go back.
Worth a hit
The layout is nice but the course care could be finessed a little more. Clubhouse is rundown.
Rental clubs sucked
Great course, restaurant is old and worn out and so we’re the rental clubs but nice course if you don’t need amenities
Conditions are abysmal
The course is in awful shape with the exception of the greens. Crab grass in every fairway, standing water in every fairway and 0 carts available. Wasn’t informed beforehand so I actually had to walk and push carts were also not available. Anything more than $30 is not worth it.
This course is beautiful
After 18 holes i have to say this course is maravilloso!!
Great Layout
Played immediately after the heavy rains from Hurricane Ian. Course was spotted with casual water and not as pretty as in part times. Greens were perfectly true but slower than past rounds.
The only negatives were slow play and mosquitoes!! We teed off late and it was really bad. Bring bug spray!!!
Great facility!! Will be back
Embarrasing
First time to play this course. Took some business clients. Driving range is a cow pasture. By range balls out of a machine after the fact. Staff not helpful. Course is in terrible shape. It’s a local municipal course at best. Pro Shop is a joke. Cart paths all busted up, tee boxes and fairways not maintained. Will not be returning.
Just okay
The design is beautiful, but it’s maintained very poorly. Fairways and tee boxes are in poor shape but the greens were nice. Not worth the money. Proper value is around $40
Peaceful quiet round, greens, fairways and tees all In great shape. Layout is challenging, target style golf. Surprisingly, not much water in play. Greens are smaller with good movement, speed was perfect. This course is very enjoyable, a design that has stood strong for 50 years
Crandon is worth it
Beautiful course, challenging layout with a lot of bunkers and water. Definitely will come back to play this course. Staff was very helpful and nice
Miami golf first timer
Great location and good variety of holes. Nice wind today kept the heat down to reasonable. Watch out for the local wildlife. Would definitely go back.
Hard course
Some areas didn’t look the best but the course was challenging and fun. I got it on a hot deal and paired up with a great group of guys.
Awesome Florida setting.
Greens we’re very fast and bunkers were hard to get out of.
