The Biltmore Golf Course

About
The Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables sits next to the beautiful hotel, an architectural masterpiece that was modeled after the Giralda Tower in Seville, Spain. Donald Ross designed the course in 1925 and the traditional layout has retained all of its original character. The golf course weaves through a series of canals that used to carry guests along in gondolas. The canals run alongside the lush fairways while towering banyan trees frame the elevated greens. Offering views of the historic hotel from nearly every hole, there are carts available but the golf course is worth the walk. The layout is popular not only for its historic scenery and verdant setting, but also for its playability. Over the years the Biltmore has been host to a number of professional golfers and celebrities ranging from Babe Ruth to Tiger Woods.

Disappointing Pace of Play at Biltmore Golf Course: A Beautiful Property with Frustrating Delays
I recently played at the Biltmore Golf Course and while the property itself was absolutely beautiful, I must say that the pace of play was quite disappointing. Despite spending a total of 4 hours on the course, my group only managed to reach the 15th hole. We were disappointed to find that there was no ranger to enforce the pace of play, which contributed to the delays. Additionally, we encountered members from the pro shop who jumped in front of us and seemed to be preoccupied with a malfunctioning golf cart, further slowing down our progress. To make matters worse, there was an individual dressed in all black going for a leisurely stroll on the course at dusk, which was both distracting and potentially dangerous. Overall, while the Biltmore Golf Course offers a stunning setting, the lack of proper management and enforcement of pace of play significantly detracted from our experience.
Good course, okay experience
I have arrived 2 hours before the start, so I can have enough time to find everything and warm up. I got my cart and my bag, but nobody told me that I had to pay for the balls at the range (it was odd because the tee time was quiet expensive and for this kind of price range I would definitely expect to have range ball free of charge...). Anyway. I went back to the shop to buy the ticket for the balls, but the range closed for some reason for about 30-45 minutes which would have been a shame if a I had an early tee time. I tried the other practice areas which were fine, and eventually I could warm up at the range as well. The buttons on the golf cart that I had, got stuck and sometimes the cart wouldn't move. Turning on/off would solve this problem, but at a proper golf course having a cart like that is not a great experience. I rented a bag of clubs and for 80 USD I would have expected something better than a Srixon set and a Cleveland putter. Sure they are not bad clubs but they aren't worth that much money...
Started my round, there was a group in front of that had taken of 15-20 minutes before me. It was a group of 4, members of the club. I already got behind them on the second hole. I was playing clearly faster than them, but they wouldn't let me through, however there was no flight in front of them. I tried to take more time in certain holes, went to the bathroom etc. but I couldn't lose them. The pace of play therefore was horrible.
The course had a drink cart going around the course, but I didn't met it during my 4.5 hours round... I saw it a couple of times somewhere else on the course but never where I was. Maybe next time if they were going to the opposite way of the players around the course would help... Since it was a really hot day it was extremely inconvenient that the cart was always missing...
The course conditions were okay, some tee boxes could have been better, but it is what it is. I don't think I will ever go back there again though.
Construction going on at the clubhouse and pathways regressing in some areas as well.
Like playing here but be prepared to loose quite a few balls as the rough which is very deep even if just off the fairway.
downhill unbelievably
Course under repair all over, grass not cut, weeds.beverages terrible. DILAPIDATED everything
Just because it’s a great deal doesn’t mean it’s a great course
Had very high expectations for this golf course. Course was in terrible condition. Spoke to the pro shop before booking this teatime and they told me the Teebox is the fairways and the greens are great. Right now we are late on Monday. I played here on Friday was not very happy. Probably won’t be coming back.
Nice resort course
This is a nice resort course which is worth playing for the Hot Deal price, not the out of state fee. Overall very good condition with beverage carts. Pro shop + restaurant building were under renovation.
Like any resort course, it could use a ranger.
Me gustó la cancha. Simple pero correcta. La recomendaría a mis amigos. .
False advertising
They are currently renovating the front 9. I booked a prime time and expensive tee time expecting a prestine Biltmore experience. They told me the front nine was closed once I already checked in and paid! The course layout is great and I could see how this could be a five star course, but the golf shop is being shady with charging their full rate for a 9 hole course that is in pretty bad shape itself at the moment. They need to figure it out!
I’ll be back in a few years once it’s in better shape after I’ve called the pro shop before hand ensuring the conditions are appropriate for their price
Great course
This was my second time playing Biltmore, it was my friend’s first and he was blown away. It’s a beautiful course, playable and challenging. The greens are currently being aerated so be aware of that if you play in the next few weeks. The only real “complaint” is that the restaurant is being renovated and the food truck was closed so we had to stop for 25 mins at the turn to grab a sandwich from the hotel. But even that was delicious. All in all, an excellent day at the Biltmore.
