Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne
About
Subtle but enticing, Crandon is a well-planned challenge built in 1972 by Robert von Hagge and Bruce Devlin. In 1993, a redesign by von Hagge brought new greens and bunker configurations. Formerly known as "The Links at Key Biscayne" Crandon Park Golf Course is a championship 18-hole golf course located on the "island paradise" of Key Biscayne, just 10 minutes from downtown Miami.
The course has the world's largest tee, seven saltwater lakes, challenging sand traps, mangrove thickets, and many holes overlooking Biscayne Bay.
You can see crocodiles (they have three), numerous raccoons and Jurassic-sized iguanas darting across the course. The blue and tri-colored herons, white ibises, snowy egrets, pelicans and anhinga grace the fairway roughs and saltwater banks.
From the first hole - a dogleg par 5 that requires a drive over water and mangroves - to the last - another par 5 with water on both sides of the fairway - Crandon Park Golf Course has, in many ways, become Miami-Dade's signature public golf course.

Crandon
Half the course was closed for construction which wasn’t advised during my reservation. So they had us play the same 9 holes to get 18 in but there were so many players that it was very slow. The guy at the golf shop checking us in was incredibly rude told me I didn’t have a reservation to try to get rid of me. When i showed him my email confirmation then it was “well it must have been under a different name” which of course was impossible. Very rude guy. The starter was missing when we began play. And when we returned there was a govt employee type lady sitting in her cart playing on her phone telling us to pick up our trash. Really a bad experience for such a nice course. Won’t go back.
Wonderful course
Although first nine is closed the second nine is enough excited
Playing in wild animal life is interesting but the racuns are professional thieves 😃
Excellent layout, great condition
Front nine was closed for renovation, had to play back twice, however no regrets as there's 7 sets of tees and each one presents a different challenge. Greens were rolling true, had to spend time reading the greens. Overall a very nice course.
Excellent course conditions
Would have been nice to be notified that front nine was closed for renovation. However playing the back nine twice was great, there's seven sets of tees to choose from and the course was in such great condition it was fun. Greens take some greens-reading skills, there's always some break. Overall a very pleasant experience
Weather refund
I paid in full on golf now for a hot deal and it rained so I couldn’t play I wasn’t able to get a refund!!!
How can I get a refund?
Golf experience
Great course but the front nine was under repairs so had to play back nine twice.
Raccoons were artful at stealing stuff from cart, lol…..
would definitely play again !
Crandon Park Golf Course
One of my favorite courses in the Miami area. Course played a little rough as they are about to close it down to 9 holes for course repairs. Greens are a little slow, tee boxes need to be leveled, fairways and bunkers were in good shape. One note: Beware the raccoons. They'll steal any food left in the cart or your bag. Was told they like cell phones
Crandon Park Golf
Great course layout. Greens were a little beat up. I heard it’s going to go through a renovation this summer. Beware the raccoons.
Over Rated Play Elsewhere
Located on a key in the Miami harbour would make one think that the location would be spectacular. Not the case. Firstly you pay a toll to enter the key. You see water maybe twice during the entire round. The course is nice but pace of play is slow. Price is on the high side. On one par 3 a youth teaching class walked onto the green for 10 minutes of instruction while my group waited to tee off. Not even an acknowledgement from the instructor. Contacted the course pro, he was indifferent. After the round 31/2 hours drive off Key Biscayne due to a very minor traffic accident at the exit to the mainland. I have golfed all over the state of Florida. This course rides a popular reputation that is unfounded, avoid it, there are many other excellent courses north of the Miami downtown.
Problems with the staff
My husband an I love this course, and have come back to play it many time. It is a gorgeous course, quite challenging for us, with a fun layout.
The problem that we had this time was that there were very few people working, so it was a hastle to sign us in and the starter was no where to be found. When we finally met up with her, she was kind of aggressive and not at all helpful.
We still would repeat this course every time,
6 inches of rain
Course is great, Miami got 6" of rain the night before. Might have been nice to mention that at the check in. Small lakes in the fairways made a tough course ALOT tougher. Will definitely play again when it's dry.
Solid
Beautiful course and a challenging layout. The conditions were good and the staff friendly. Watch out for the raccoons on the 11th tee 😅.
