The Preserve Golf Club
About
The Preserve Golf Club at Tara features Ted McAnlis' par 72, championship golf course. Exceptional care was taken to protect and enhance wetlands and other natural features of the course. At just over 7,000 yards, the course offers four sets of tees, allowing players of all skill levels to enjoy a challenging round of golf. Eleven bridges span the many small streams running through the golf course, protecting natural waterfalls and wetland habitats. A unique feature is the 60 foot Mount Matthew, which sits between the driving zones of hole five and six and forms an impressive backdrop for the tee shot. A beautiful clubhouse is open for lunch daily and is perfect for seminars, banquets or receptions.

Tea boxes are still in poor condition, and some of the greens are still bad but others are improving. Hopefully some work can be done on the greens the tea boxes in the courthouse.
726 cough
Record still has many problems, such as tea boxes with no grass and being moved, and some of the greens need much attention but I believe they’re working on it. It would be great to keep the price low until it’s fixed or people will probably play.
Goat track
This course is a complete goat track. Tee boxes are dirt, greens have mounds of sand not top dressed but mounds. Some holes you have no clue where you’re going because the preserve is so overgrown you can’t see the flag. Just a diaster of a golf course. Appears like this course should surrender and be sold for houses. Never playing there again.
Course in bad shape
Lots of weeds on course and most if not all tees are sand and/or moved to a new location.
Course is in bad shape.
There is more than one box that is literally all sand. Not just poorly maintained. There is actually no grass whatsoever.
Fairways are nice.
Greens are hit and miss.
Cart paths and bridges are borderline unsafe they are in such bad shape.
Shambolic
What have they done !! From playing a few years back it was great course fab layout and now they have let it rot ! Tees are unusable ! Greens are awful! Devastating to let such a good track go to ruin! It needs serious investment otherwise be closed soon !
THE PRESERVE AT TARA
THE TEE BOXES AND GREENS WERE IN TERRIBLE CONDITION ALTHOUGH THEY DID LET ME KNOW THIS BY EMAIL. PACE WAS FAST. CHALLEGING COURSE WITH ALL THE WATER. FAIRWAYS WERE GOOD. VERY ACCOMODATING STAFF. FRIENDLY.
PRICE WAS GREAT. IN BETTER CONDITION LAST TIME I PLAYED,
No Grass
The tee boxes were horrible. Every hole was like hitting your tee shot from a sand trap. My brother and I played 9 and quit after the first 9. They offered a rain check but I will never return to that course. Save your aggravation and play anywhere else but this place.
Greens were rough tea boxes were really bad fairies were okay but it's a good laid out course enjoy playing my early morning rounds there
Course Needs Work
Played yesterday. Fairways are in great shape. Tee boxes are mostly dirt and sand. Can’t get a good spot to tee off. Greens are a mixed bag. Some greens were rolling well and a few patches and holes. Others were in terrible shape. Several holes filled with sand and clovers and weeds on majority of greens. This course layout is excellent. Course needs someone with golf course superintendent skills and knows maintaining grounds. If owners willing to put some money into course and find the proper superintendent; they can make it work. Right now, btw the teeboxes and greens; the course is barely playable and really not fun for the average golfer. Also, several holes with overgrown shubbery and traps not good.
SAD how this gem has fallen
Haven't been to the area in years but this place used to be a gem. Tee boxes were bare as in no grass. Greens the same way. Didn't mind the longish fairways, but did they forget how to grow grass out here?? COme on fellas be better, do better. This course used to be amazing Don't waste your money.
Unprofessional Staff
The staff here is unprofessional, rude and unkind. I will not be playing this course again.
Don't Be Upset on Teeing Grounds
Reading the reviews on YELP didn't lend itself too much for me to visualize before I arrived. Hemming and hawing about tee boxes - to which I can not deny, but I accepted this limited blemish and played the course. What a way to waste a day on a beautifully designed golf course, it's silly to make that your prevailing thought, but enough about them.
The fairways felt newly unique to me as I brushed my club over them, then my hand. Semi stiff and not viney which is what I've played upon here in Southwest Florida. The greens are Champion Ultra Dwarf - and the short stick was hot this day. Draining two bombs of over 20 feet and two ten footers early on, gave relief to my errantly sporadic tee shots.
The golf course winds through the naturally lush Florida wetlands and the fifty two - yes, 52 lakes make the water hazards an omnipresent danger, yet no feelings of heavy and intense intrusions.
Play a smart target golf game, avoid hooks and slices at all costs. Remember, a shorter shot will allow a nice look at overhang and red ON markerd. A longer path to the green isn't a bad mindset - and that's coming from me - Mr. Grip it and Rip It.
June 6 golf
This has been approximately the 20th time we have played this course this year and from time to time the course was an excellent condition. The last time we played it look like it was improving this time the greens were in bad Repair and I don’t know what I can stay positive about the greens. The fairways were good and the tea boxes were abominable. We love this course and we like playing it but we really hope it can improve in the coming weeks.
