The Preserve Golf Club
About
The Preserve Golf Club at Tara features Ted McAnlis' par 72, championship golf course. Exceptional care was taken to protect and enhance wetlands and other natural features of the course. At just over 7,000 yards, the course offers four sets of tees, allowing players of all skill levels to enjoy a challenging round of golf. Eleven bridges span the many small streams running through the golf course, protecting natural waterfalls and wetland habitats. A unique feature is the 60 foot Mount Matthew, which sits between the driving zones of hole five and six and forms an impressive backdrop for the tee shot. A beautiful clubhouse is open for lunch daily and is perfect for seminars, banquets or receptions.

Terrible Tee and green conditions
This has gone from great to terrible, to ok over the years. Not sure why they cannot keep this great course in great shape!
Don’t do it. No matter the cost.
Weeds only on tee boxes.
Weeds in fairways and greens.
Course needs A Lot of love.
Its ashame what it has become.
Avoid at all costs
Although the picture of the course made it look nice, and the clubhouse is nice, never have we ever encountered a course in such appalling condition. I have labelled the course extremely challenging but that is because the tee boxes were mainly bare dirt, sand or overgrown weeds. Many of the fairways and the general areas looked liked they had been lifted from the Battle of the Somme. The 'greens' were slow and in very poor condition. They all had clumps of weeds growing across them and several had big patches that were worn away leaving dusty loose sand and dirt to putt through. Some of the potentially interesting holes that require you to tee off over vegetation or to play an approach shot over similar conditions onto a green were made impossible by the fact they were so overgrown and unruly that it was impossible to get any idea of what you were playing to. I should have looked at the reviews before booking this as there are many others of a similar nature. Golf Now might want to look at whether they continue to offer this course to its members. An absolute waste of money! On the plus side, never have we played a game with so much (hysterical) laughter and the hot dog in the bar afterwards was great!
Worst course I’ve ever played
Do not fall for the trap! It looks NOTHING like the pictures. The course has to be weeks if not days from closing . Looked like it was abandoned. Tee boxs were dirt , sand and crab grass on the greens , fairways not mowed ! Absolutely the worse course I have ever seen
April 25golf
Course in much better condition than previous weeks and it is getting better. Thank you for working hard to make it a good course.
needs a lot of work
There were no T boxes to speak of. Every one was burnt out to the sand. Sometimes there were T markers between T boxes just to have them on grass. Fairways were decent and playable. Many of the greens had sand patches on them and had to move the ball as to not have to putt over them. There was also a lot of crab grass growing in portions of the greens. It would be a fun track if there was some effort put into the up-keep.
Sad course
Tee boxes are all sand and the greens are spotted with weeds. Seems like the new owner who bought this course about a year ago just doesn’t care anymore. Great staff.
The Preserve
Fair course for the fee required.
Water hazards on almost every hole providing tight fairways for an average player like me.
Many greens had a several weed problems. Was told the weather conditions in area had been dry. If that’s the case the fairways were in pretty good shape.
I’ll play again.
Not worth playing
Course was is horrible shape. Have lived in are for +20 years. Love to play golf, but will never return here. Possibly worse conditions in Sarasota/manatee counties.
Conditions, customer service poor
Watch your bank account, when I checked in on line I was told in the pro shop that they didn’t accept “pre payment”, much to my surprise I paid in the pro shop and also found a charge on my credit card from when I checked in (double charged). The course was borderline unplayable, knee high weeds on the tees, several traps without rakes, weeds in the greens, grassless fairways…perhaps when in the region money could be better spent on a local goat lot.
Minnesota players
Second time playing here it has rained since the last time in the course has improved. Fairways are greener. Greens are better. Just need to be better trimmed around the sand traps. Can’t wait to see how it looks after the rainy season comes in June.
I usually play a very early morning round .The man working out with the carts are excellent gets my bags out of my car and puts them on the cart for me The people inside are helpful and accommodating they get me out first thing I can't think of a better place to play..
