Scotland Yards Golf Club
About
Scotland Yards Golf Club, as its name implies, has a traditional links-style layout that is reminiscent of the traditional links courses of England and Scotland. It offers the experience of classic Scottish golf with the convenient of being only 20 miles north of Tampa. The golf course tumbles across the gently rolling hills of west central Florida. The course plays long and it features wildly undulating greens that require tremendous accuracy. True to its links nature, there is little water but there are plenty of pot bunkers treacherously lurking throughout. The signature hole is the par-5 second. At 554 yards, it is the longest hole on the course and it is only rarely reached in two. The demanding third shot is uphill to a green that is fiercely guarded in front by two massive mounds and pot bunkers.

Much Better
Great job by the staff redoing the tee boxes and greens.
New carts. Will come back soon.
Great shape
Great course. Fairways and grand were in great shape.
worth the money
This course was a wide open course in the links style. No ranger was seen on course so pace of play was slow due to people ahead hitting more than one ball and often waiting to long before teeing off.
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly...
Booked early morning Saturday round on Golfnow. Upon check in, the cashier said "next time just call and make a tee time, it will be 2 dollars cheaper..." Arrived a half hour early for my time, putted some then picked up my playing partner. No starter or marshal, no big deal..Arrived at the first tee, to see 8 carts backed up, so after 2 groups we got in line..A group skipped past us, we asked what thier time was...was told: " we are in the points group and theres 3 more groups coming, you guys should go off the 10th...now a half hour past our tee time...
I went back inside to ask permission to go to the 10th tee, the lady immediately starts shaking her head no..I told her we have been waiting at the first tee for a half hour and the "points group" suggested we go to 10..she then says ok go ahead..so we go..but it gets better...
I tee off, my partner heads to the senior tees, a single players speeds by us, stopping at the senior tees, gets out and yells: " The first tee is over there!!" I told him i knew where it was and that we were there for a half hour and were told to come here, so he yells back well your going to have to wait behind me...and off he went..
The course itself is ok, over seeded tees and fairways, and green, greens and quite nice and run ok. Many bare spots in between.
Zero organization with the local scrambles or leagues..Could easily use a shot gun start with them and start tee times and walk ups away from them.. Very unwelcoming if youre not part of the regular groups. Tee times are meaningless here.
Best value around
One of the nicest layout courses around excellent value for the money
Much better shape-they’re trying
They’re working hard but you still shouldn’t have fairway lies with no grass. I’m ok paying golf now fees but not their regular price.
Shocked at the improvement
Very happy to see the improvement in the course, this was a favorite several years ago but completely fell apart. The tee boxes are flat, well seeded and in great shape, the fairways are for the most part completely re-seeded and fresh. The greens were the best though, absolutely shocked at how well they were rolling and how green everything looked. All in all very happy to see this old favorite back in the condition it deserves.
Good Shape
Course is really in good shape. Haven't been there in a while and I was impressed. Just stay in the fairway. I would have given it four stars, but they need to tell their maintenance staff to move or shut off their motors - or both - when they are near golfers. On more than one green we had to try and concentrate while a mower either sat idling or continued to mow. Other than that, a great day at a well maintained course.
Much Improved
New ownership has poured resources into improving the course and it shows. Odd thing to praise, but it was the best sand I've played out of in many years. Can't wait to see how the course continues to improve.
Bad experience
I asked ths older lady if my 90 year old step father and I would take separate carts. She said no. With covid, it was very cruel and unprofessional. The golf course is very poor layout and not really properly maintained. They really don't care. Very disappointed.
Decent value for this type of course
The overseeding is up which is starting to improve the fairways. But it also made the greens very hairy and too slow. They’ve been working to improve the course and it’s much better under the new management. Not worth full price to me but with a hot deal it’s great.
No carts
We booked a tee time and when we got to the course, we where told they had no carts. Staff just told us we would have to wait for some carts to show up.
Staff never apologized our offered any solution: just told us to look for people coming in and try and be the 1st to get to them.
We canceled our tee time, other wise we would have probably been waiting for over an hour for a cart.
