Scotland Yards Golf Club
About
Scotland Yards Golf Club, as its name implies, has a traditional links-style layout that is reminiscent of the traditional links courses of England and Scotland. It offers the experience of classic Scottish golf with the convenient of being only 20 miles north of Tampa. The golf course tumbles across the gently rolling hills of west central Florida. The course plays long and it features wildly undulating greens that require tremendous accuracy. True to its links nature, there is little water but there are plenty of pot bunkers treacherously lurking throughout. The signature hole is the par-5 second. At 554 yards, it is the longest hole on the course and it is only rarely reached in two. The demanding third shot is uphill to a green that is fiercely guarded in front by two massive mounds and pot bunkers.

HUGE Improvements!!!
Played here 3 months ago and the greens were horrible....What a difference 3 Months can make. Greens were terrific and green. The entire course has been much improved since the last time. Fairways and tees were nice. This still a no frills course, but the design and elevation changes have always been the star of the show, now the improving conditions from the new owners and greens keeper make this a fun and enjoyable place to play. The staff is friendly and the pace was great. I'm glad it's back in shape, and getting better all the time.
Pleasantly Surprised
Played this course a couple of years ago and was not impressed. The course now is in great shape and was a pleasure to play. Greens were in great shape and fairways were also well taken care of. Pace of play was a little slow, but this time of year in Florida this can be expected with all the snow birds here. Overall course was well maintained and definitely shows signs of someone else taking over this course and getting it in nice shape. Will definitely play this course again.
average
the course has not changed much in last 2 years, still ant hills everywhere.. No rush coming back.
First time playing here
From what I understand, a new owner took over around last September; pretty rough prior to that.
Considering that, and the price, the course was in pretty decent condition; tee boxes and greens nice.
I'd play there again and recommend it.
Enjoyable Round of Golf on a Beautiful Day
While the cart paths are unpaved and the rough leaves a lot to be desired, the fairways and greens were in good shape. Also a strange greens flag set-up: All front nine pins were red (front), while the back nine were white (middle).
Despite having a foursome in front of us the entire round, the pace of play for my wife and I was very reasonable -- 3 1/2 hours for 18 holes.
Advice: I wouldn't pay more than $20 for this course. They need to invest money in infrastructure and move the carts closer to the clubhouse. I had to pack a lunch and an overnight bag to retrieve my cart.
Cheap cost for good practice
Lower end course but good for practice at a low cost.
Great value.
It appears that course maintenance has been neglected, over the past year, but new owners are already showing that they intend to change that. Plenty of newly seeded areas are evidence of that, but the greens will need major effort.
course was in terrible condition and I would not be interested in playing this course again in its present condition not would I recommend it to any of my golfing friends.
Neglected year after year
See my previous review, trying to upload the pictures on this review. Greens are very sad.
Sanding the greens
They were sanding the greens ahead of us and we had to wait 5-10 minutes every hole on the back side.
Links style
!st time playing. You need to know where the fairway is. It looks wide open, but, the fairways are not as wide as they look. Hint. Stay in the fairway. There was no food available after the round.
I normally consider all factors in reviewing a course but the conditions of this course are very poor. The only real positive was the staff I had interaction with. From the tee boxes to the fairways to the bunkers to the greens, this course needs help in all areas. If you pay more than $10.00 to $14.00 to play, just be forewarned.
Beautiful location
This was a great course in a beautiful setting but unfortunately in bad shape.
