About
Lake Wales Country Club boasts a classic Donald Ross design that players of all skill level will enjoy. Built in the 1920s, the golf course has a different look and feel than most modern courses. Rather than exaggerated hazards and dramatic contouring, the layout blends seamlessly into the natural landscape. The routing of each hole was determined by the existing contours. Like many of Ross' designs, the phrase "hard par, easy bogey" holds true here. The layout features small greens with crown centers that are sloped back to front. Rough borders the fairways and the wide-openness of the course means that wind will often be a factor. Lake Wales C.C. is a challenging but straightforward golf course. There are no trick holes but there are several holes that will make you think.

Very poor
The tee boxes and fairways were in terrible condition. The greens was very good. Certainly not at all worth the $40.
Sad
On a two day golf trip and this was our first stop. In every aspect, this is easily one of the worst conditioned courses I have ever played. It is sad to see the great Donald Ross layout be so neglected, with every fairway consisting of weeds and dirt - mostly dirt. A first for us - after playing 3 holes we were on the phone trying to make a tee time elsewhere in the area. The one good experience on the course was successfully setting a tee time at a nearby course at which point we walked off Lake Wales. I also highly question the method used and integrity applied in the recommendation process deployed by GolfNow.
Course not in very good shape
Greens don’t exist. Fairways don’t exist. Course layout good but I would not play there again

Front 9 Needs some TLC and rain back 9 nice shape greens were fast great value !

Horrible maintenance course was all torn up bathrooms were discussing and falling down
Shameful
This course has a really nice layout and could be/probably was a beautiful course. It had the worst fairways I have ever hit off of. The greens weren’t much better with plenty of bare spots. Honestly, I drove 40 minutes to play here and I wouldn’t do it again if it were free.
Not even for free.
It’s shameful that a course with such a beautiful layout is in such terrible shape. What are the using to mow, goats? Part of the problem is poor maintenance but it is obvious that many players don’t fill divets. I I really wouldn’t play this course for free. Oh and the greens are in horrible shape. The tee boxes were worse than the fairways on the next worse course in the area.
The course that time forgot
I would imagine at some point this was a very nice course, layout is nice and forgiving but tge place is just very tired.
Looks like money has been tight and they are trying to work on it but tough to find a nice lie.
