About
Big Cypress Golf Club is part of a gated golf retirement community called Cypress Lakes. Conveniently located between Orlando and Tampa, the club offers two golf courses, the North and the South. The South Course is a championship layout that is more challenging than the executive-length North Course. Both courses are characterized by the abundance of water and swaying palms, offering the best of Florida golf. The South Course plays a long 6,680 yards from the back tees. The course presents a more demanding test than the North, appealing to more advanced players. Florida Golfer and Senior Golfer have recognized its challenging layout for its excellent conditions and design. Maintenance is a top priority at Big Cypress; on both courses the well manicured fairways and greens are consistently in good shape.

Golfer Reviews
Bad layout
Even if you hit the shot you want you get penalized, fairways are all uneven and always slope to trouble, greens were mostly elevated and also sloped to trouble which would be ok if they were soft, but were hard as rock. Course plays tough for a 230 yard drive 150ish to green better for forward tees 120 yard drives and low rollers to the green.
Staff was amazing.
Showed up 15 min before my tee time, went to check in, ranger was super nice. Gave me a free small bucket of balls and gave me time to warm up. Everyone was very nice, course was a blast. Lots of wildlife and greenery. Will definitely go back.

Didn’t play well on the day but that won’t put me off playing there again a great course
The starter and rangers were very friendly. The man at check in not so much.
My favorite course within driving distance.
This was my 3rd time playing here and will get a couple more rounds before going home. The course is in great shape even though we haven’t had much rain. The staff are friendly and accommodating.

Aerated
Disappointing the front side was aerated today had to play the back by myself behind a number of foursomes. Not much the ranger could do. I drove an hour to get here as I like the course

Disappointed today, aerated the front nine and closed it, had to play the back twice by myself (three others didn’t show). Behind multiple foursomes this a slow, frustrating round. Drove an hour to play it as I do 2-3x a year..

Good Course
Strong neighborhood course full of pride. The community was rocking! Energetic atmosphere.
I traveled an hour to play a 5* course. The course is a good course, just not 5*.
Greens were immaculate. Don't recall seeing any ball marks at all. Layout was solid. Fairways clean and defined. 1 or 2 tee boxes were stressed but overall the course was in good shape.
If I lived in the area this would certainly be a course that I played often.
