About
Big Cypress Golf Club is part of a gated golf retirement community called Cypress Lakes. Conveniently located between Orlando and Tampa, the club offers two golf courses, the North and the South. The South Course is a championship layout that is more challenging than the executive-length North Course. Both courses are characterized by the abundance of water and swaying palms, offering the best of Florida golf. The South Course plays a long 6,680 yards from the back tees. The course presents a more demanding test than the North, appealing to more advanced players. Florida Golfer and Senior Golfer have recognized its challenging layout for its excellent conditions and design. Maintenance is a top priority at Big Cypress; on both courses the well manicured fairways and greens are consistently in good shape.

The starter wasn't kind. He even got mad when I asked the question. I don't want to go this course again, because of him.
Still waiting for my Lunch
We love this couirse and play it every year. However, not being a member is a handicap!
Waitress and Bartender were fantastic and tried their best but our lunch order got overlooked so many times we would've missed our tee time. After waiting for well over an hour we had to give up and leave the restaurant.
Slick greens
One of the best courses in the area. Great layout, challenging fairways. Super fast greens. Pace of play was pretty slow this day 4-1/2 hrs.. Friendly staff. Always make a point to play this course when in the area.
Superfast greens
Tee box so so, fairway ok and greens are in great shape and very very very fast. For me, it does not worth the trip from Orlando.
Enjoyable Course
The course is in fair to good condition. Teeboxes are the weakest element; fairways and greens are good. The pace of play was four hours. This course features a lot of habitat rather than weaving around housing, so you can see some wildlife.
It is really enjoyable to play, especially recommended for seniors and mid- to high-handicappers, although the back tees will give low-handicappers a reasonable challenge.
Good test of Golf
Played from the green tees (about 6,000 yards), plenty of water to keep your attention. Greens were very fast, so if you’re above the hole, it can turn into a 3 putt. You need to know the distances and trust your club selection. 13-14 holes has water that comes into play. A couple of holes, you have to basically hit it between the goal posts or should I say trees. It will definitely test your golf skills. Bring at least a sleeve of balls, maybe two sleeves (just so you can finish the round or get a few golf balls from your buddies). Either way, enjoy!!!
The course has some of the fastest greens i've played on.
Great course it has a lot of challenging holes if u haven't played there its worth checking it out.

First time playing this course. Staff very hospitable and course was great shape and great to play. Thank you Cyoress staff and supt and squad. Friend hit hole n one!
Nice Course
Nice course off the beaten path. Quiet friendly atmosphere. Plays shorter than most. Greens are slick and true. Won't disappoint!!
Keep up the good work only draw back players must use the sand provided to fill in divots.
Best public course in Lakeland
Big Cypress is consistently the best course in the area. Been coming to Lakeland for a golf getaway from PA for the past 10 years and never miss playing this course. Even during summer months when other public courses have dried out greens, this one is always in impeccable condition. Greens are not slow, but not too fast either. You can make a confident putt, and the greens are receptive to approach shots. Staff is 4.0
