About
Big Cypress Golf Club is part of a gated golf retirement community called Cypress Lakes. Conveniently located between Orlando and Tampa, the club offers two golf courses, the North and the South. The South Course is a championship layout that is more challenging than the executive-length North Course. Both courses are characterized by the abundance of water and swaying palms, offering the best of Florida golf. The South Course plays a long 6,680 yards from the back tees. The course presents a more demanding test than the North, appealing to more advanced players. Florida Golfer and Senior Golfer have recognized its challenging layout for its excellent conditions and design. Maintenance is a top priority at Big Cypress; on both courses the well manicured fairways and greens are consistently in good shape.

Great Course Under the Radar
Played here several times. Course never disappoints. Tough but fair layout with excellent par 3s, par 5s and the 17th & 18th finish as good as anywhere. Well maintained and was close to being 5 star, but greens need a couple more rains to fully repair from punching, and greens were smooth but a little slow due to recent heavy rains. Rough thick and consistent. Fairways full, with just a few hairy spots due to wetness. Would recommend anytime and is a great 1/2 way golf meet-up location if you have people coming from Orlando and Tampa areas.
Very nice and fun to play. Will play here again for sure.

Aeration Alert
Played this course when the greens were not punched. Great layout. Fun course. Greens are aerated. Need about two months fopr them to cure.
Played this course a couple of weeks ago and I enjoyed it then . And yes it was still fantastic .
Pristine course
Not a blade of grass out of place. Extremely well maintained tee box to green. I am being told that they will be punching greens 4/26/21 but wasn’t able to fact check.
Excellent Course and Friendly Staff
Enjoyed golfing Big Cypress very much. The course was scenic and in excellent condition. Challenging in places, but fair and not overly difficult. Everyone was very helpful and friendly including the pro shop staff, the starter, and the ranger. I look forward to playing Big Cypress again.

Course is in the best shape of any course in Polk county
Course worth the drive
Overall this is a fun course that is kept in good condition. The greens were very good and rolled true and we're relatively quick. Most greens have few flat areas and have some dominant slopes in large sections, so leaving ball below the hole can be a big advantage. The fairways were in good shape as well. The course has most of its real trouble to the left side of holes, so in that sense it can be a little repetitive,. Also can play over a range of distances from the various tees, though it is a bit to the shorter side. There are also a few forced carries over lakes and ponds on a few holes. The staff were super friendly and the restaurant was a nice place to get a great deal a bite to eat. So for the price, it is hard to beat the deal if you are within a reasonable drive of the course.
Best greens in Polk County
Golf course was in excellent shape from tee to green. Staff was very friendly and the pace of play perfect.
