Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club - Gator/Panther Course
About
Located just northwest of Tampa, Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club sprawls across the lush landscape of the west Florida coast. The club offers three nines: the Gator, the Panther, and the Bobcat. The nines can be played individually for a quick round or in three different 18-hole combinations. The Gator/Panther layout offers a good balance of challenges and player-friendly features. Narrow, tree-lined fairways are complemented by generous landing areas. There are sparkling lakes and ponds that come into play on a few holes and strategically placed bunkers are situated along the greensides. In addition to the three golf courses, Silver Dollar boasts one of the area's most extensive practice facilities, which includes a full driving range, two putting greens, a pitching and chipping green with a sandtrap, and three practice holes.

You Get What You Pay For
I wish I could write a positive review. I cannot. I know the saying is "you get what you pay for". Is this ever the case. I was in Florida for the PGA Show. I wasn't concerned about the "excessive noise from Trap Shooting" as mentioned by GolfNow AFTER check-out. For $8 for 18 with a cart I expected poor conditions. It was what I received. But when you have a course with less than mediocre conditions you better make up for it elsewhere... like friendliness of the staff. I found the staff to be as friendly and welcoming as a "junkyard dog". The conversation was short and terse with no direction given. I had never been there. I was partnered with two locals and I had no issue with the "PoP". IF MORE PEOPLE PLAYED READY GOLF... THERE WOULD NEVER BE "PoP" ISSUES.
I cannot comment on amenities.... I didn't have a chance to take a gander as I was rushed. There might be a range... there might not be. A TON of maintenance would serve Silver Dollar well. It was quite disappointing.
To sum up I wouldn't pay them $8 again. I have since learned that at 42 I might be losing my foot and my kidneys. I am depressed knowing that this might have been my second to last round of golf ever.
(Bear in minds... I do not hold high standards... or am difficult to please coming from eternal winter)
silver dollar
The staff did the best they could. We had had almost 3 days of rain. Course was wet, however, they kept us moving and turned a disaster into a fair day. Nice job. Course has some very weird shots and set ups. Not a lot of trouble so you can score, but there is enough trouble to keep it interesting!
Great value
Course and conditions decent, and since it was a cool day, we had the course to ourselves. Conveniently located.
Reliable
Very good value for the cost. The greens were in excellent shape, fast and true. The grass on the fairways was a little sparse and the tee boxes should be leveled. I found myself consistently teeing off with the ball above or below my feet..The speed of play was great, we were done in three hours and there was a foursome right behind us. I will play again.
interesting layout
The greens were in good shape other than a few, speed is good and have some very large and contoured slopes. THe tee boxes are in very poor shape as well as the rough and around most of the greens. A lot of bare lies and some roots. It is however quite a challenge from the blue tees as well as the red, having to position the ball in the right spot. WAter comes into to play on almost ever hole when you play the gator. It has 3 nine hole courses and though I didn't get to play the one 9 the gator and panther were a good test of golf.I would go back and try it again , just wish they would spend a little more money on the condition of the grass and lack of.I play a 2 handicap and tami plays a 12 and believe us it will challenge your game.......have fun and keep up the reviews it helps when your from out of town or country as we are......thanks
A Pleasant Surprise!
We drove over an hour to get to the course, but it was a pleasant surprise. The course was in great shape. Lots of wildlife. A real nice course for the average golfer. We'll definitely play it again! The course was quite busy but we played it in less than 3-1/2 hours.
Very challenging
On Monday December 16 ,two of my friends and I played that course and we really enjoyed. There is a lot of challenge, narrow fairways,a lot of water and wood.I will recommend the course to all of my golfers friends.
Thank you
Great course
Course was in great shape, although wet, it had rained the night before.
Surprising
I was surprised at how good the course looked given the area. No offense to anyone, but I would not consider the area to be a typical golf community. This place is a hidden gem. It is fairly open which is not usually the case on most courses in the area. Very fair priced.
they were working on some holes
Cheap is about the only good thing greens were not to bad
Everyone working there from the proshop to the bar was very friendly.
The entire staff was friendly. There is some long and challenging par 5s. The course had experienced a lot of rain in recent days so it had some wet areas. But all and all, I was very pleased with my experience.
Average at best
Average at best. Paid $10.00 a person to play and I wouldn't pay any more than that. Some really wonkie holes. Needs a little maintenance. Clubhouse is average at best as well. Not worth paying full price to play.
I wont go back.
3 9 holes courses helps with pace of play, however this was not a course I would recommend or return to. Several of the tee box's had zero grass on them all sand the course was very beat up with a lot of dead spots in the grass. not maintained well at all. Fun layout if they ever get the course in better shape.
Really friendly staff here!
This course is a hidden gem and the best in the area!
We love playing this course. The course is in great shape despite all the rain we've been having. We had no one in front or in back of us for at least 9 holes and had a cart behind us on the second nine that preferred to play back of us despite our waving him on in front. Greens were slow (which I liked) again, due to the rain, but this course is ideal to get away from the crowds of Countryway etc. and hope to see more play next time as it is only right that Silver Dollar command a bigger presence in the area. Will definitely be back. 27 holes to choose from - GREAT!
Several Holes really make the course
The course was in nice shape, we played 2 of the 3 nines and the pace was very nice. It was our first time there and knowing the layout better would have helped with layup shots and some corners. Several holes required club management and flying the water, these of course added to the challenge. Most fairways were open and forgiving. My son is a big hitter and could let out the shaft on most holes and then use a more controlled club on some. The women's tees were more than fair and my wife enjoyed the round very much.
We really enjoyed our experience and all three of us would gladly play the course again.
Siver dollar has several challenging holes.
Always enjoy playing at Silver Dollar. With the two courses you have options and never backed up. The pace is always excellent and thecourses are always well maintained.
Don't like ,we had to play back to back two front 9
We had two front 9 of the Gator course and front 9 of the Boccast course it was difficult to keep tracking our score in our GPS
good course for the money and long par 5's
they are taking good care of the course good value for the money
This course makes a day of golf fun and challenging.
If you want a day of long drives and challenging courses them this is the place. I will be back
