Very Nice Layout

3rd round here. I love the layout. Bay 9 has a couple of rough spots on hole 6. The Marsh 9 exceeds expectations and very pleasant to play. If you enjoy leisure pace of play and don’t need PGA conditions you will find BW Golf well worth it.

Not much to recommend

Course staff is awesome but the course itself is in need of a straight overhaul. I understand that there may be an issue with irrigation but when you find more sand on the fairways than grass, well for a golf course, that’s a problem. The layout is not the best having to drive a few blocks to the first tee was a rude awakening, proceeding to travel through parking lots to in between housing was a complete fiasco. I get it, not very expensive, nothing close to your back home country club but wow it shouldn’t be in that bad a shape, no golf course should be.

If you are looking for a great picturesque course on the water to both enjoy and be competitive, keep looking. You get exactly what you pay for on this course. Set your expectations levels extremely low and you might find some fun within your group.

This course was in very bad shape

Myself and 2 friends were on vacation in Destin and wanted a decently priced course to play. While the price is good at $40 for 18, it was quite literally the worst golf course I’ve ever played.

All of the greens were completely dead with weeds growing in them making them almost unplayable. We played the blue water bay course for the first 9 holes.

We started on the marsh course for the 2nd 9 which seemed to get slightly better, but at that point we were so disappointed we left.

Not worth it at the moment

This course is in bad condition, no other way to say it. Unless you can play for free, it’s hard to justify any price if you have more than a 10 minute drive. The guy at the pro-shop told us it was rough before we started, the starter was very friendly, making the staff the biggest plus of the course. The area that was formally the driving range was sold and is now houses, so no warming up besides an alright putting/close chipping green. The tee boxes are either overgrown or sand. The fairways are rough at best, weeds and dead spots on most every hole. The greens are abysmal, they are either dead or dying. One par 3 was a dirt tee box that looked like they placed the markers wherever they fit, and a dirt green. The layout isn’t bad with some potential for it to turn into a genuinely nice course if maintenance improves exponentially. New ownership brings hope that they can turn the course around.

TLDR: Unmaintained and frustrating to play. Great and friendly staff. Not worth making a far drive too. Potential to become a good course if new owners put some real effort into bringing the course back to life

Meh course

Greens in rough shape. Back nine better than front.

Tee boxes need work as well. Only $40 so affordable but you get what you pay for.

BlueWater Bay Great Potential!

This is a fantastic course for the price and the flexibility it offers. The back nine plays well and has beautiful scenery with multiple views of the bay. The front nine could use some work especially in regards to grass/greens maintenance. However, with a new change in management, PGA Pro Ashton Crowe, this course will be up there will the greats along the Florida panhandle.

Needs a lot of help!!

Course had a descent layout with dog legs and breaks in fairways. But overall the course is rough! Honestly, pretty comparable with some of the worst courses I’ve ever played. Putting is impossible as greens are mostly sand and crab grass. Wasn’t possible to get a good roll. Weeds growing up around tee boxes. Tee boxes are mostly sand as well. Pace of play was very slow as I got stuck behind groups playing their own scramble. Staff was very helpful and friendly though!! No logo balls for collectors. Couple of great views from on par 3’s with the bay in background

Bluewater Bay

Driving in I noticed weeds growing in a few of the fairways that were visible from the street, like knee high weeds.

Pro shop is old and dated. Overall it’s a dump. It’s a ghost town there. They should close up or put some money in it and get it playable. The staff were very friendly is the plus. They were just like, we know it’s rough it’s a work in progress. Plenty of other corses around that are taken care of to play at. I wouldn’t spend a dime to play here.

Do NOT waste your Time or Money

Extremely shocked at the terrible conditions of this so called golf course...Literally the worst golf course conditions I have ever seen from tee box to "greens". No practice range, and the staff mirrored the course conditions, really bad! This course is suffering in every aspect imaginable, it's very sad to see how abused and neglected this property is and yet no apologies or heads up from the staff...This golf course needs someone who cares and has the resources to make it a real golf course instead of a Panhandle Pasture. VERY SAD TO SEE.

New ownership

The Neighborhood purchased the course in June 2024 and hired one of the best PGA Class A Professionals in the panhandle, Ashton Crowe. This Fazio designed course is back on the mend! Ashton and Dennis are the best to get the job done.

Greens are awful

The layout of the course is very good. There are some great picturesque holes. The greens were awful. They have lost them. You basically putt through a minefield of dirt, sand and crabgrass. If you hit the green. You should just pick up and everyone gets a 2 putt. We payed 38.00 a person. I’m not sure it’s worth that. We were able to play pretty quick because no other golfers were on the course. The staff was friendly and seem to be glad we were there. There are so many better options than this course. It’s a shame because with some maintenance and TLC to this course. It could be pretty good. That’s an honest opinion.

On the way up!

We have played this course for years. They have had a few down years due to the ownership issues but now that has been resolved, this course will get better quickly! Hiring Ashton Crowe was a great move. He made the Kelly Plantation the experience that it is and is now bringing that same knowledge to elevate this course. Can't wait to see the changes in store!

Almost Getting There

With a little more TLC this course would be a 4 star for sure. Great layout just a little rough around some of the edges. Great experience for late afternoon relaxed round of golf.

Bluewater

Could fix up the tees, cut grass to line out fairways and cut new holes in green more often for a sharper cup.
