Cypress Head Golf Club

About
Cypress Head, an Arthur Hills design, is a blend of holes and styles, a layout of two distinct nines that impress players through different means. At 6,805 yards from the tournament tees, the course is not a beast (there are three alternative sets to choose from).
The first nine is the highlight at Cypress Head. These holes take on a variety of shapes and strategies with little repetition.
It features multi-tiered undulating greens and preserved wetlands with water coming into play on 14 of the 18 holes. The 14th hole is a 478-yard par 4 over water that comes into play off the tee as well as the second shot to the multi tiered green.
The Golf Club also features a lighted driving range and practice facility. Two practice putting greens, a target green and sand bunkers for honing your skills before taking on the challenges of the course
With its' superb conditions and beautiful wetlands setting, Cypress Head is a public club that offers a private and tranquil experience.

Great Value and Excellent Conditions
Greens and fairways in Excellent condition. Course layout is very good and pleasant environment. Some force Carries from the back tees. A number of water hazards. Facilities very good.
Great Golf Course Experience
We all know that cart path only sucks. But, the staff at the club made things tolerable. Course is in great condition with a really fun layout. Greens and tee boxes in great shape and fairways soggy but true. Can’t wait to come back when not so wet. Might be my new favorite in Volusia county.
Nice course to play while visiting New Smyrna.
Pretty course with a layout that seems to play long at times. Several forced carries and water come into play on several holes I did find the par 3s to be some of the easiest as I managed to par all 4 of them - something rare for my game. Unfortunately, back 9 was cart path only, but I could see why. I had played this course a couple years ago, but it seemed quite harder than I remembered it - but I was a couple years younger then. ;)
Great experience, staff were cordial and professional. Course has a very enjoyable but challenging layout. A true gem and a must play . My wife and I traveled 120 miles to to give it a try. Was able to purchase a hot deal on golf now to make the trip more affordable…thanks for the experience. We look forward to playing it again!
Challenging Course
Cypress Head is a fantastic course that delivers on all fronts. The first thing you'll notice is the incredible condition of the grounds. The fairways are lush and well-maintained, and the greens are in great shape, rolling true and fast.
The layout is excellent, offering a challenging and engaging experience for golfers of all skill levels. It's the kind of course that makes you stop and think about your shots, rewarding careful planning and execution. This thoughtful design is what makes Cypress Head so enjoyable—it's a course that tests your skills while still being a blast to play.
I will definitely recommend this course to anyone looking for a great round of golf.
Fun and challenging layout
This was my first time playing here and I really liked it. The layout was fun and challenging. The layout was varied and challenging with several forced carries off the tee and also several forced carries into the greens. Definitely a place where accuracy is required. I played in the middle of the day on a Thursday and the pace was great. Of course, it was 93 degrees outside with a “feels like” temperature of 104 degrees, so not many people will be out nor want to play in that type of humidity. If you are able to get a deal on Golf Now, it is definitely worth the price.
The course is in great shape but the greens had not been cut in a few days so they were rather slow. The prior days, there was rain, so that may have kept the greens from being able to be cut.
The staff was great and very efficient and friendly.
Really fun but challenging layout.
First time playing here and I LOVED it. The layout was fantastic. The few days leading up to our round had heavy rain so it was cart-path only when we played but the course had drained very well and wasn't soggy in many places. The layout was very challenging with several forced carries off the tee and into the greens. Definitely a place where accuracy is at a premium but that not to say length isn't important too. We played pretty early on a Sunday morning and the pace was great. Our foursome was able to play in right about 4 hours, even with it being cart-path only.
There are lots of courses in the area but this one goes straight to the top of the list for places I'll play again when I'm in the area.
Have to put this course on regular rotation
I haven’t played this course in a while and shame on me, because it’s a great course with a variety of challenges. It’s in great shape and the greens are legit!
Fun morning
The course is in great shape. I was a Sunday dewsweeper playing with Ed, Marilyn, and Dennis. They were a blast to share 18 holes with. Great staff, very efficient, nice practice area. Greens are in great shape. Don't sleep on Cypress Head—really enjoyable experience. It should be at the top of your Volusia County golf list.
Unacceptable pace of play
I don't understand how Cypress Head and Venetian Bay don't enforce pace of play. Guaranteed 5hr round at these places minimum.
The course conditions were good, but greens were very slow.
Great course but greens are punched
I really like this course. Other then the punched greens the course is in good shape. Challenging layout but a lot of fun.
Disappointing, both from GolfNow and the course
Booked a round first thing in the morning for a noon tee time. Checked both GolfNow and the courses webpage for information on the course just to make sure things looked good before going out as I had see a few reviews mentioning not ideal conditions several months before. Nothing stated about current course conditions on either location. Show up for the round, and am told that I’m only allowed to play the back nine, because they were aerating the front nine. Nothing stated during the booking process at all. Start playing the back nine to find semi unplayable greens, due to those being freshly aerated. Was a complete waste of time and money. Rest of the course was in good condition, fairways, tees, and rough. However that type of major work at the course, and a partial closure has to be mentioned in the status. No refund of any amount was offered or given, but in my opinion should have been. Complete waste of time on my one vacation round.
