Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

Mayfair Review
The course is overall pretty good, the fairways were nice and not too narrow. The greens could have been better but were still mostly acceptable. The course itself has a lot of back and forth for the holes, so whenever you’re teeing off there’s usually someone in the danger zone if you have an unpredictable drive like me. But, overall a good experience and good value for the money. Clubhouse is still being built so construction noises can be heard, but only on first and 10th tee and the end of 18.
Always improving.
You have to love Mayfair. If you're familiar with this course, the greens are very consistent in between visits. They are well-cared for, with minimal bad spots. Tees and fairways are okay. The green-side retaining wall has turned out well and seems to be holding. The #3 fairway is better than ever and the #4/5 fairway is no longer holding water in the low point. Things are looking up for Mayfair. The new clubhouse is also looking phenomenal! Tee times hover around $40-$50. Compared to most nearby courses, (Timacuan, RedTail, WPP) The value is at Mayfair.
When they finish, rebuilding the clubhouse, it’s gonna be very very, very nice!
They need serious help managing their tee times
I've been here a few times. Both on week days and weekends. always backed up from the first tee. get ready for a 5 or 6 hour round.
Clubhouse under construction
The main building is looking pretty good. They tell me November for a move-in date. The course is in fine shape and there’s a couple of temporary cart paths around the construction area, but it doesn’t affect the course. I play here probably once a month even though it’s a half an hour from the house and five dollars in expressway tolls but it’s a good course I like it
Horrible
Came here about 3 months ago for a tournament and it was in great shape! Decided to take my grandfather here since he likes open courses but we get there and there’s no range. No advertisement that there’s no range and the putting/chipping green was also closed. This place is a goat ranch currently and the fact that they even charge full price is robbery. Stay far away for at least a year.
mayfair
typical Mayfair. Spotty fairway grass, beat up t boxes. Green were recovering from aerification but I was warned about that.
Tee Boxes Need Help
Please, please, please put some grass on the tee boxes. More than half were just sand. Back 9 fairways need some TLC also, specifically 14. I can't wait for the clubhouse to be finished. Great day though!
