Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

Great day
The weather was perfect and the price was right. I was hitting the fairway all day and the greens have challenging level changes. It was very relaxing and a great day for golf. I'll definitely be back again. This is absolutely one of my favorite courses to play and I would recommend it to others. The cart paths are a little beat up but that would be the only negative thing I have to say about the course.
Great course for the money
Greens and fairways were in excellent shape. Pin placement was surprisingly difficult, often on ridges and such. Roughs were exactly that - very rough, mostly sand and weeds. Some tee boxes needed work.
Pace of play was just fine. My twosome was joined with another. Course was crowded but we only waited on par 3s.
We played the tips since it is a short course. There were a lot of trees in the way off the tee which made it more difficult than the length would suggest.
Staff was just fine, although the turn was a little slow due to service speed. Food was mediocre at best.
We paid $19 on a hot deal and it was well worth it for a Sunday morning.
Need more courses like this
Mayfair has been in excellent shape. Greens are fast and smooth, fairways and tee's are in very good shape. There isn't a lot of rough which means lies can be spotty but we need more courses that are affordable with very good conditions in the fairways and greens. I definitely love this course.
Golf at Mayfair
The course is always busy at the beat time of the day with golfers avoiding the winter cold up country. The play was very slow. With the prices being relatively inexpensive in relation to the majority of the courses in the area it attracts players with high handicaps and little knowledge in the rules of golf.
The group in front of me yesterday consisted of three men and a child. They were all over the course. Music blaring, the child driving the cart.
Tha group in front were also being held ug by the pair in front of them.
I enjoy playing the course and will be back next week.
The course condition could be better. If you stay on the fairways all is well, the rough is poor there is many areas that at bare and other areas that have weeds. The greens are always sanded
Fun to play
This course has great history. Has some very interesting holes and good for all levels of players.
Returns
The only problem is that the tee times are scheduled too close together
Decent fairways and green
We are from Germany and played 14 times during our stay. This course has a decent layout without being great, quite average with the one or the other challenge. The pace of the game was at the lower end, a lot of players on the course. The greens, tees and fairways were in really good conditions with some minor exceptions. However, anything else like water, rough, car path etc. surely needs investment and maintenance. But overall excellent value for money and for an average player good course to play.
Great place to challenge your game
The course was in great shape. The weather was perfect, dry and cool. The greens were in excellent condition. And the pace of play was ok even when sometimes we had to wait a little bit on the tee box due to players in several group ahead were slowing things down.
Sloooooooow
My tee time was 12:18 and my clock said 6:18 as I was leaving the course. It was an excruciatingly slow round. The greens are nice, but the fairways are not so good.
New player
Was not a serious by gun golfer and gilded this course 15 years ago. just recently pick the game up again and started lessons to make it a more serious game . The fairways and greens are in great condition for overall play. Cart paths are pretty bad and Kinda hurt the overall experience since the course conditions are so much better than years ago when I used to play .
Overall great value and love the openness for someone trying to learn the game again . AAA day
Nice for the price!
For this time of year the price was right. The greens are in good shape and the pin placement on most holes made the putting a challenge. Overall a great day.
Nice but not spectacular
Good layout, course was in fairly good condition. Slow players ahead wouldn't let us play through. Greens were in good condition. Good course for the money.
great course, close to home
great course, pretty wide open. close to my home so this is usually my go to course. great staff
old time course
Mayfair says they have the best greens in Seminole County. For the most part they are excellent but some like number 11 have some bad patches. Fairways are spotty. Some are very good. Others have bare patches. Tee boxes were good. Course can be challenging at times with well placed water hazards and tight at times due to the numerous trees. Sand traps had new sand and were very good. Best hole is a short par 5 number 12 with water in front. Laying up is a definite possibility. The green slopes downward severely from front to back so make sure you get the shot far enough back or it could roll off the front. Very playable but not spectacular. Will play again.
Good course for the price
I have no complaints. As a new golfer I thought the course was challenging and exciting. Would definitely be coming back.
Value golf
One would be hard pressed to find a better value this time of year. The greens are in very good condition as well as the rest of the course. Not real difficult and a chance to feel good about your game. I've played here for years and the course is in about the best condition I've ever seen it.
Course is in GREAT shape. Greens are some of the BEST in Orlando area. Have played there many times and will play there many more times. Great Course!!!
Best greens all year long
Love playing Mayfair. Challenging but fair. Greens are always great and have pin locations that require creative putting. Great rates too. They just got new carts that get you around quickly. Book early cause it's been really busy. Pace can be slow because lots of people playing. Only blemish is bumpy cart paths. Tell 'me Rich sent you.
PS - family friendly
Good greens and tees. Not a fun place for accomplished players. Strange angles off the tee shots. Very narrow landing areas. Poor or no turf on approaches after a missed greens. If you just want fresh air and nice putting surfaces OK, otherwise forget it. Crackers in restaurant $2.25. Unbelievable
