About
Situated amongst the foothills of the San Gorgonio and San Jacinto Mountains, Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon boasts 36 holes of scenic championship golf. The two courses, the Champions and the Legends, are some of the area's most popular. The older Champions Course is host to the PGA Tour Q-School and it is a Nationwide Tour Qualifier. It is such a popular tournament location that it is known as the "home of the Southern California PGA." The Champions is a challenging but playable layout with tight fairways and numerous steep-lipped bunkers strategically placed throughout. There is also thick, treacherous rough that will swallow any errant shots. Also included in your tee time is unlimited use of the practice facilities, which include an all-grass driving range as well as chipping and putting greens.

What happen?
Greens and fairways were ok. I could not believe how poorly the bunkers were . There were weeds found in various bunkers throughout the legends course.
I take pride in recognizing this course as home and look forward in playing here. Price is normally not an issue because I believe you get what you pay for, but this course resembled something completely different.
Although I would still recommend this course and will continue to play there, I’m a little disappointed.
The demise of a past SCGA course
This is a difficult course made more difficult by lack of maintenance, especially the sand traps. This course has a lot of sand traps and they are mostly a combination of a small amount of sand with rocks and dirt mixed. Hopefully management will read this review and take steps to remedy this.

DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE!
Where to start. 5 hour, 55 minute round? Bunkers that are equivalent to pavement? I lost 3 balls in the middle of the fairway (the course was so wet, you would think Lake Mead was full!). They don't need to water the course for a month. It needs to dry out. It was simply unplayable. Extremely disappointing because I've played this course 10-12 times, and it was always at least somewhat playable. Also, the clubhouse closed at 4pm! Arrived at 4:10pm from a 10:16am tee time. Everything was locked up. Couldn't go to the bathroom before getting into the car?! Come on.

Poor course conditions
This is my 2nd time playing the Champions Course in a month or so, and I was hoping that my initial impressions were a bit harsh, but they were not: the course is in pretty bad shape. Torn-up and uneven tee boxes, extremely spotty fairways and rough (including large patches all over the course that are bare dirt, as well as areas that were not mowed for a long time and balls got lost only feet off the fairway), spotty and poorly maintained greens (although the greens were relatively good compared to the rest of the course). The entire place seems to be losing care from the owners. It has a neglected feel that I suspect was not the case before. Now, all this said, it is the end of a very hot summer in California and many courses are suffering. However, this one is particularly affected and I don't see the efforts to maintain the course in anywhere near the condition that one would expect. Staff was so-so, relatively indifferent acting, but helpful with water and ice.

Not as bad as previous reviews
Yes, there are some bare spots on the fairways, but most are out of play, and if not, they’re in spots you shouldn’t be hitting it. East enough to take relief. The greens are great. Pretty good condition for the first week of September and 105 degree temps if you ask me (you did).

From Riches to Rags
The course is trash once again. I dont know if it is a lack of water or what but its in bad shape. There is always plenty of water and seed to get it in shape for the Symetra tour event but not for the loyal members and players. Isnt it easier to keep it in good condition rather that bring it back from the dead every year? When it was operated by the SoCal PGA it was always in good shape. I guess I will have to play it just before and just after the LPGA event otherwise the regular patrons get the roached version the rest of the year. Beaumont gets a lot of rain as compared to other Socal locations so whats the deal? Just make the money and the heck with everybody else.
The management attitude seems to be if you dont like it go somewhere else far away from here and pay a lot more money. Its the locals that keep it a float Im sure. The management probably thinks if they sell the beer from morning to sunset they wont know the difference. There is probably some truth to that.

Good layout and greens. Bad fairways.
This course was not in good condition except for the greens which were good. Only saw drink cart twice in the round. On 2nd hole and 15th. Cart staff was not friendly. The layout is good with some interesting holes. Drive slowly in the rough as it is full of pothole like bumps.

Great Course, needs TLC
I’ve played this course many times in the past, but it’s been a while since the last time. Amenities are still very nice, and staff is always friendly and professional. BUTTTT! The course must have had some major problems with the grass, sadly there are many bald patches. Hopefully staff can address the problem quickly and return the course to it’s usual exceptional condition.

Great layout BUT not maintained as in the past
Always looked forward to playing champions course for its challenge but this time I was really disappointed due to what I can only describe as neglect. Bunkers have no sand at all, weeds have taken over many of the traps and are as high as 3 feet. Such a great layout....please get it back to what it used to be!!

Love to Golf
The pace of play was terrible, it took us 3 hours to finish 9 holes and the pace of play continued to get worse on the back 9. No marshals to help speed the pace of play we stopped playing after 14 holes just couldn’t take it anymore.
I’ve played here many times and this by far was the worst experience I’ve encountered here.
