Sugarmill Woods Country Club - Cypress Course

Have played this course numerous times and it looks like the course conditions are improving

Played this course a month ago and it was decent, played yesterday and the greens were like craters on the moon, rough thick grass needs cutting.

I always enjoy this course and will be playing there a lot more when I move to the area. I've taken my golf buddies there and they enjoyed it. No it's not perfect. Carts are pretty old but still work well and the rough could be trimmed some.

Course in better shape than few months ago. Still work to do, but, stay in fairways and hit greens, and all is ok.

Fairways were good, rough challenging, and greens need grass. Fast greens are okay but these were more sand than grass.

Staff is rude and course is probably the worst I’ve ever played. Should be illegal to even charge people. Greens are not greens. Mud and weeds are the greens. Wanna be country club that obviously are failing to give up.

Came from out-of-town, figured $45.00 for a 1:00pm. tee-time, would be fair price for a decent golf course. Boy was I wrong. This is not a golf course, its a goat farm. Tee boxes poor, fairways as bad, cart path is like driving with three flat tires, greens non existent. I have played many courses in Florida and this is by far is the worst kept course I have played in years and I've played some dozzies!

First the guy in the pro shop was the rudest person i have ever met in the service industry. He claimed not to have my name in the tee sheet and insisted i call golf now to get my reservation number! I play a different golf course every week and NO ONE has ever asked me for the confirmation number, second the cart was a piece of crap, no windshield, holes in the cart seat, and the straps would not lock to hold my clubs had to use my golf bag strap to keep the bag on the cart. and lastly more than 3 of the greens were just sand! i would not play this course again even if it was free.

Course was great six months ago. Right now they didn't oversees so fairways, teebox's and rough in poor condition. Greens are in decent shape. I was told they didn't want to oversees so as not to hurt greens and once weather warms they're gonna put full press on getting tees, fairways and rough back in shape. For $21 hot deal not bad price, but don't expect much!

I can't believe previous reviews, what course were they playing?? Very nice layout, hilly, occasional homes on one side of fairway so kinda feel like out in nature (not like typical florida course with homes next to each other yards from both sides of fairway). Too be honest, I was pleasantly surprised after taking a chance after reading other recent reviews. Great layout, fairways in decent shape, no standing water. Don't recall having to tickle ball even once to find grass on fairways. Greens, other than 1 or 2, were in good condition, with the other 2 being worked. Tee boxes were decent, well groomed, no bare spots that I can recall (I played blues). Can tell they are coming back. Can't comment on traps as I wasn't in one:). Ok, cart paths need tlc, but it's an older course, I wouldn't kill them over this! I would put this course in the 4 star group with the likes of southern woods, hernando oaks, etc to name a few. I've played some 3 stars in the area in the past year that I wouldn't even consider stepping foot on again (i.e. River Ridge, Oak Hills, etc). With some more tlc I could see this course getting to the 4 1/2 star range. For the $23 hot deal, was well worth it. Certainly 5-star is possible but that's rarified air and would take quite a bit of investment in facilities, cart paths, etc.! Bottom line, I will be going back!! Please don't let other reviews scare you, try it out and see for yourself. On second thought, don't, it was easy to get tee time and hardly no one there, so I'm gonna enjoy it whilst I can:)

This course was probably beautiful at one time, not anymore. Had high expectations after reading course discription, hopefully they will put some money back into the course before it totally gets away from them.

I was excited when I booked this tee time. This was once a private course and typically they are well-groomed and plush, not the case here. The cart paths are GONE and the carts are old and worn out. About 2/3 of the tee boxes were trashed. Sand traps had more grass than sand. About 1/3 of the greens were nasty, some were nice so this is very confusing to me. The fairways were the best part of this course. Most were actually very nice. BUT THE ROUGH, OMG. The rough was high, uncut, sometimes sparse, and totally unplayable. It is like they quit taking care of the rough completely. Plus there was no second cut. You could be a few inches off the fairway and penalized drastically. They also used to offer 3 nine-hole tracts and you made different combinations to create an 18 hole round. But they have totally closed one tract to play. I feel sorry for the homeowners. I do hope they are able to get the course back in shape, but I won't returning to play until improvements are made.
