Disaster
No grass to be seen. Fairways like concrete. Greens completely destroyed. Unfortunate because the layout is very good and challenging.
Thank you for your review! We hope to see you again soon!
first time played
fairways and greens need watering. tee boxes were in poor condition.
Thank you for your honest and candid feedback. We are currently in the midst of one of the worst droughts in the last few years. The course was built on an old orange grove so it is very sandy and does not do well with holding onto moisture. We are putting out over a half million gallons of water per night, which is our maximum allotment from the county. We are doing a lot of work to help combat the dry conditions and as soon as the rainy season does start up, the course should rapidly recover. We hope you will give us another chance once the rains set in so you can see how much we have improved. Thanks again and have a great day!
Thank you for your review. We would love to hear more about your experience so we can work to improve for your next visit. Please email info@indianriverpreservegolfclub.com so we can continue this discussion further.
Terrible shape
Played this course a few times over the years. Even when it was Walkabout. Clubhouse and restaurant are awesome. Course conditions are horrible. From tee to fairway to rough to greens it’s in terrible shape. Very inexpensive in the afternoons but can’t recommend this place to anyone I know for the next year or two. I know they just punched their greens recently but you can tell they won’t be very good till way beyond the normal healing time. If ever. Quirky layout in spots. Always has been but the conditions leave ALOT to be desired. It’ll be a couple years at least till I try this course again. If ever.
Hi Pingdave14. Thank you for taking the time to offer us some feedback. While we hate to hear you had a poor experience at the club, your feedback is important to us as we work very hard to improve. We have been in the midst of a horrible drought since March and it has not let up as of yet. The course is built on an old orange grove, which means very sandy soil. Water tends to run right through it so while we are putting out over a half million gallons of water on the course, when we have these 90 degree low humidity days with steady winds, it tends to dry us out. Our team is working very hard to fight these conditions including putting down 8000 square feet of sod on the tees and tons of fertilizer that helps hold in moisture across the entire golf course. Once rains get here, the course will improve rapidly. The greens have actually made a decent recovery and with just a bit of rain, I think you would be surprised to see how far they have come. Please reach out to info@indianriverpreservegolfclub.com and we'd be happy to go into more detail on all of the things we are doing to combat the drought and to have the course ready to blossom when the rains start. Thanks again for your review and have a wonderful day.
Super friendly staff. The course is well maintained. Greens are always in great shape.
Love this course.
Thank you so much for your positive review. Our grounds crew is working hard every morning to improve the course for our guests. We hope to see you again soon!
What happen
What happened to the course over grown weeds everywhere trashcan overflowing I picked up so much trash I thought I was working there. Get it together love this place
Hello Captrobert. Thank you for your review and feedback. The week this review was written, we had 5 pieces of equipment break in what was a week of unfortunately events. Due to that, our normal mowing schedule was heavily disrupted. Everything is up and running now so the course is mowed our much better. If we could just get a little bit of rain to fall we'd be in a really great spot. Hope to see you again soon.
Nice course layout
The course has a nice layout with doglegs, water holes, undulating fairways and small challenging greens. Too bad the greens were aerated when I played, would have liked to test the greens. Very friendly staff, and the food in the grill is worth a try.
Thank you so much for leaving us some good feedback. The greens are pretty much healed from the aeration and if we could just get a little bit of rain (we have had none for 24 days) the course will have really come around. We hope to see you again soon!
Interesting course
Tee boxes and fairways were not in good condition. But otherwise it was a fun course.
Hello Haiggm. Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We are battling extremely dry conditions that started all the way back in March and have not let up yet. We are nearly into the rainy season now and we have a done a ton of work to the golf course that should have us sitting in pretty good shape with a little assist from mother nature. We hope to see you again soon and thanks again for leaving us some feedback.
Great value
This course was in good condition as of 5/4/2021. Value was great. Round of golf, lunch and small bucket range balls for $38. Pretty challenging course. Overall I was happy. I’d play here again.
Thank you for your review! We appreciate the feedback and we are glad to hear you had a positive experience. We continue to work hard to improve the course and hope you will come see us again soon!
Nice layout. Good value for the money
Small greens , demands pinpoint iron accuracy.
Tee boxes needed some work and greens were
about 3.5. Course needed a little TLC overall.
Good value for the money, pace of great, and staff very friendly.
Hi jmwoot. Thank you for your feedback. We are in the midst of a really tough drought that started back in March and hasn't let up yet. The golf course was built on an old orange grove which means its on very sandy soil. Water doesn't stick around for long so when its EXTREMELY dry like it has been, we rely purely on irrigation to keep the course going. However, when the dry conditions go on for several months, we run into a shortage and can only put out as much as the county can give us. We have done a lot of work to the course to try to get through this dry season including putting down a bunch of sod on some of the tees and putting out a bunch of additional fertilizer that is aimed to help capture and hold as much moisture in the soil as possible. Rainy season is nearly here and this drought will soon break and the course should come around fairly quickly. We hope that once that happens you will give us another chance and see all of the improvements. Thanks again!
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! Have a great day!
Twice not as nice.
Disappointed that such a interesting layout suffered due to course conditions.

Thank you for your great review and we hope to see you at the club in the near future!
Great layout
Course was picturesque and yet still challenging. Like many of the area courses they all need a fair amount of water to get them in good condition. Can’t wait to play it again.
Thank you for your great review! That water you were asking for still has not come but we're doing everything we can to continue to improve the course! We laid a bunch of new sod on our tees and the soil has all the nutrients it will need once the rains finally start. We hope to see you again soon!
Thank you for your review. Please reach out to us at the golf course directly as we'd like to hear more details about your experience so we can earn those last two stars on your next visit! Hope to see you again soon!
Greens were very slow and bumpy. Pins were not straight into the cups. All we’re leaning one side or another. No foam inside the cups, too tough to get the ball out of the hole.
Hi there. We do appreciate you leaving us some feedback and will pass this along to our maintenance crew. Have a wonderful day!
Needs some tlc
Course is great layout, but needs some manicuring and some grsss in the fairway.
Thank you for your review! The cold winter was very hard on the course and did result in the thin turf in the fairways. However, now that spring has arrived and warmer temperatures and hopefully some rain are coming, the course is progressing nicely!
Thank you for your great review! We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and offer some feedback. We are battling one of the worst weather seasons on record. We went straight from a cold and frosty winter (dozen frosts) straight into a drought that started in March and has not let up since then. On this stretch, our last day of measurable rain was all the way back on May 5th. Due to the high temps, low humidity, and steady wind, the course is very dried out. We are putting out over a half million gallons of water (our full allotment from the county) each night. We have also put down several tons of organic fertilizer across the whole course which helps capture some of that moisture and hold it in longer. Since we are built on an old orange grove, our soil is very sandy and water runs right through. With all of the nutrients in the soil, we expect to see very rapid improvement in the golf course as soon as we get some rain coming through. We have missed both of the last days of rain as it rained all around but not on the course. The rainy season is here so it is only a matter of time. I hope once we have gotten some regular rain and have enough water to push the golf course along that you will give us another chance and see the course improve. Thanks again for your feedback. This will be relayed to the grounds crew.
