Great layout and decent greens but scruffy from tee to green.

I played this course with a friend this past weekend. We started on time as a 2-some and did not feel rushed from the back and were not on top of the group in front of us, so that allowed the round to flow very nicely. It seemed the course was putting on a tournament that day as some of the pin placements were in peculiar spots, which made birdies hard to come by. Overall it was a good round in right around 4 hours. Could not ask for more.

Red Tail when originally opened was one of the top tracks in central Florida. The layout is extremely challenging. But lack of up keep and the deterioration of the putting surfaces last year forced us to mark Red Tail off our course rotation. Based on recent golf now reviews we decided to give the course a relook, and we are glad we did. Maintenance has cleared a lot of brush making the sight lines clearer. The greens have come back and are rolling nicely and receptive to quality shots. The fairways have some bare spots and weeds. The areas surrounding the greens require the most attention. The turf is inconsistent, there are weeds, bare spots and hard to get up and down regardless of your short game. That being said, based on the price, layout and the greens I recommend giving Red Tail a 2nd chance if you were scared away in 2021.

Made early afternoon tee time at a very good rate part was in a twosome, however, we didn’t realize until we were on hole number three or four that there was a junior tournament going on ahead of us, we were behind another twosome, so it took over five hours to play the course, also the fairways and other areas of the course need some attention, on one of the greens there was some live mole cricket activity some areas near the tee boxes were being destroyed by the sand hill cranes who were likely feeding on them, last summer this course became almost unplayable due to them losing the greens , I really like this course and will definitely come back just hope the course doesn’t go down hill again.

Layout is awesome, greens were in good shape as were tee boxes but fairways were inconsistent, some had great grass others had very little. Driving range was an afterthought and range balls were basically balls probably found in bushes and bottom of the lake not picked over for good vs bad. So much potential here but needs more love. Will be back because it’s priced fairly though

Greens were pretty good condition, firm. Fairways and tee boxes very dry. Grass very thin. About right for $42 a round. Good layout friendly staff. Course keeps slipping from what it used to be.

Not running back to play this course again, not in very good shape.

This is one of my favorite courses in central Florida. Great layout and good value for the money.

Ok, I’m an 8 handicap, and have played this course a number of times. I’m not one of those reviewers that gives one or two stars because they didn’t like the cart girl or the pro shop staff.

I have played this course when it was in great condition and that is not where it is at now. Many fairways have almost no grass to hit off of, the greens are covered in sand, yet they are charging full price for tee times.

I hope the course comes back but at this point, stay away!!

Great layout in a beautiful and peaceful community just wish the course was in better condition

This was my second visit to Redtail. I played it a second time because I recalled it has an excellent layout with many interesting holes. Nice piece of property for sure. Course conditions were mixed - some fairways in good shape, others were really awful. Tee boxes were generally good and the greens rolled nicely. Pro shop guy was friendly but he was one of only a few employees that I noticed - one other guy cleaning/moving carts, a bartender or two, etc. - notably, nobody at the bag drop, no starter on no. 1, no ranger, etc. This isn't a big deal to me, but it does say something about how they are running the course - my opinion. Pace of play was good and there didn't appear to be a full tee sheet on this Tuesday round. Net/net - pretty layout, challenging course, mixed course conditions, but pretty good value for the price. Having just come up from SW Florida, $55 seemed like a bargain.
