RedTail Golf Club
About
Atypical of many Florida golf courses, RedTail Golf Club is a links-style layout dotted with 100-year-old oak trees and azaleas among its rolling green fairways. Designed by Dave Harman, who also did Shingle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, the course features four lakes with water coming into play on the last five holes. Holes 14-18 work their way around the largest lake on the course, while the finishing hole's approach shot plays over another body of water in front of the clubhouse. Located in rural Sorrento a little more than a half hour north of Orlando, RedTail Golf Club prides itself on catering to "members only."

We just happen to really like this course. Have played 2-3 times annually over last
3-4 years. At Golf Now; Hot Deals, its
worth it.. Staff and Grill go extra for players.
We wish them well and will return in a
few months.
Cry a tear
I paid $20 to play but they should have paid me $20 to play there. A few years back one of the best tracks for the money. Now don't bother. Its going to take time and money to get this to playing condition. So sad.
Most Truthful Review.
The course is so damaged that there is no way the golf course will recover anytime soon. It will take a year if not multiple to get this place playable again. 3 Holes were closed. And most of the holes greens were closed and they had used portions of the fairways to create temporary greens shortening your play by close to 70 yards. Multiple tee boxes were closed. The greatest challenge of this holf course is overcoming that most of the fairways and greens were borderline rough. The best amenitie is the bathrooms along the way and the luxury golf carts.
The greens are bad
I had played here a few months ago and the course seemed to be coming back especially the greens. But now the greens are full of weeds and dirt.
Stay away
If you are reading any positive reviews they are false. The greens are gone and will take a year or so to recover. The fairways are mixed grass.. the mounds are round the greens have no grass and/or weeds and that is all. It is sad what this course use to be like. If you pay more than $20 go somewhere else and for this place for a while..
Rough Shape
Course was in rough shape, greens were under repair , no heads up given on Golf Now, me and my playing partner gave up on the course after 6 holes it wasn’t worth playing! We should have been given a refund! Manager said there were plenty of signs stating course condition! You couldn’t drive on the fairways because they were trying to recondition the course, which were didn’t know until hole number 5 when a course worker told us, there were two holes closed which we found out after we arrived at hole four and no hole was found! A terrible experience all around!
Worst course I’ve ever played
Truly a terrible golf experience 2 holes were closed completely. Most of the greens are chopped up with weeds on them and that’s if you even get to play a green. Most holes have makeshift greens in the middle of the fairway. There were rocks in the sand traps. Just honestly a horribly managed course. Pace of play was so high because I was the only person on the course.
Terrible Condition
This course was in fair to good shape a few months ago. They have lost the greens, the fairways and bunkers are overrun with weeds. After the first cut off the fairway, the weeds are terrible.
Bunkers were pitted and overgrown.
I love this layout but something bad has happened there.
Greens need improvement
Love the layout but probably because of weather and rain? Greens were often bare and rough was too rough with high grass and wetness. Very friendly staff. I would play again because I love the layout except maybe the dreaded 18th but I would not recommend it to the really serious golfer until greens get better.
rough shape
this was our first time playing Red Tail. Over all the course if a great layout, there are some long tight drives from the tees, the fairways are broken up so you have to place some shots in the right area. But the greens and tee boxes were rough shape. not a lot of grass on the greens, very patchy. I'd go back when the greens get some life to them.
Nice layout very poor conditions
I’ve played here several times as being a local. Unfortunately the course has a lot of issues. Greens, bunkers, tee boxes and fairways need a lot of TLC. I hope it bounces back.
Needs work
Always loved the layout of the course but the greens are putting through a burn victim, I’ll give them another try soon but it’s going to be a while
Play somewhere else
I've played this course many times before and it's sad how poor the conditions are. First off, if you like to get to the course early to warm-up at the range, don't bother. The range is small and really tore up. The course is really bad from tee to green. The boxes had large bare spots but probably the best part of the course. Fairways were full of mixed grasses types and weeds. Its one thing to have these on the course and its not that bad as long as its maintained at lower height but it looks like they haven't been cut in a few weeks. i've never been penalized so much for hitting it into the fairway. The worst part of the course were the greens. They did aeration recently but alot of the holes were exposed and needed to be refilled with sand. the greens were extremely dried out. A majority of the greens had large barespots and a few in particular had cracks in the soil.
Jim’s review of Redtail
The course is coming back nicely from the drought. The fairways are in good shape and the greens have been aerated several weeks ago but putting pretty true now. They should be in good shape soon. Tees were in rough shape but playable.
Poor course conditions
It’s been several years since playing here due to course conditions in the past. I decided to give it another try. Big mistake ! I will not waste my time or money for this course again unless I’ve driven the course to see conditions. Course has gone down hill. Last time I played they had one hole that had fairway split. Now there are 7 or 8 that they’ve created double landing fairways. Greens are still burned. Cart maps are turned off. Leaves one thinking they are working hard to save money. Certainly not from what they are charging.
This is 100% true.
I've known this course for 20 years and it's now a horrible place, run by clueless and self absorbed staff.
If BB touches a course, it usually dies..
Those who know, know...
Place is just AWFUL.
