Eagle Dunes Golf Club
About
Eagle Dunes Golf Club in Sorrento sprawls across rolling elevation changes that aren't typically found on central Florida courses. The course also claims to have the area's truest putting surfaces. The layout stretches to just over 7,024 yards from the back tees. Long hitters will be pleased about the opportunity to grip it and rip it but ball placement is an important factor. The golf course is punishing even if you're only slightly errant. The vast sand traps seem like you're playing across a desert and the occasional water hazard comes into play as well. The wide, player-friendly fairways help to balance the challenges of the golf course. Since opening in 2003, Eagle Dunes Golf Club has garnered a strong following amongst locals and has earned the distinction of being one of Gold Digest's "Best Places to Play."

Jim’s view
Since central Florida has had no rain to speak of, most public courses are hurting for moisture. I’m giving this course an average as most fairways and greens were playable.
$16 Hot Deal? Sure why not
Got a $16 hot deal and for that i cant knock it. But to come out and pay full price.... meh
Chipping area and range are fine but the practice green was sanded over and not worth using.
Actual greens on course were rough but have the potential to come back
Terrible
Greens are bushleague,,, I think 3 greens are playable,,, rest of course with the exception of a couple of fairways are way sub par,,, for charging the 50$ to play, they should have paid us. Stay away unless you want alot less than decent playing conditions,,,,
greens a little rough
great course great value but the greens are rough on some holes
under renovation
The course had bare spots on almost every green filled in with light green sand. The fairways also had some bare spots and off fairway mostly crabgrass and sand. The course has huge sand bunkers and waste bunkers everywhere and the course slopes into those which means some good shots roll right into these huge sand pits. It's a catch 22 - if the course were beautiful the price would be much higher.
Decent price for a decent course
Went here with a friend and was actually impressed with the layout, parking, amenities like driving range, short game practice area, ect. Carts looked decent, but lacked a few extras like charging ports for your phone or something. Doesn't have gps or score card screen but they were in decent shape and no rips or tears in the seats. Tires were almost new looking. Two sand boxes on each side with plenty of sand for divot repair.
The course itself was in decent shape except for a few areas under repair that was roped off so that is good that they are at least trying to keep up with course conditions. Now the greens on the other hand, many of them, if not most are in serious need of water and loam and fertilizer. Was a lot of sandy spots and patches that took up huge sections of the greens. The clubhouse wasn't busy when we checked in, but the staff was very pleasant and courteous, helpful and ready to answer any questions we had. I saw a food area with tables but didn't stay long enough to see if they were open or serving food or not.
The course itself seems to be a challenging course if you are an average golfer, meaning there is plenty of sand traps and sand hazards to avoid, near the greens and all over the fairways. So accurate tee shots are a must. Plenty of holes to let your driver loose and go for the long ball. Plenty of water hazards too..a couple of very nice par 3 holes in my opinion where you can test your iron distance. If you like testing your putting ability, it's definitely here as well, lots of greens with plenty of good to severe undulations to test your skills at reading the putt.
I will definitely be back and hopefully the greens will be back in top shape when I do...in fairness, it is hot and dry, and I'm sure that plays a factor in the shape of the greens. They have "No carts beyond here" areas and I do see where some people have been ignoring those signs..please try to help the course and your fellow players by staying out of those areas with carts. We can't have a nice course or nice greens and approach areas if you're driving in those areas.
Needs TLC
Eagle Dunes was known many years for its immaculate greens. What happened? So many appear to
have damage and was difficult to putt because of crusty, hard sand. Even the fairways are average at best with way too many weeds throughout. Not sure what is being done to remedy the situation, have seen greens actually deteriorate since last there several weeks ago. Ownership needs to commit to fixing it or consider
selling to someone who will. Track is playable but nowhere near what it used to be
Let's get the greens better
All in all not bad! Fairways need a lot of work in some areas but the greens need work on almost all of them. I still enjoy this course and would play again. Love the range and all the practice areas! Thanks again!!
Greens are worst I’ve seen here
I’ve been playing this course for several decades. And as much as I love the layout and elevation changes, I hate that the greens have become the worst I’ve seen at this venue. What a shame!
No greens. Waste of time and money. Not worth 35 bucks. Thanks golf now...
Eagle is rough
Played eagle dunes a few times over the winter and enjoyed the layout, fairly long and wide open with alot of big waste bunkers and rolling hills. This time the course was in a little rougher shape, with weedy patches and dead spots on most of the greens, making a true rolling putt hard to find . Some of the fairways had bare spots and a few big bunkers had sort of caved in spots on the side. Hopefully it is just a seasonal recovery time as the staff is great and it is a fun track to play, definitely ok on a hot deal but a little iffy at full price.
Not good
This course was very cheap but even for the money paid the course was in very bad shape. The greens had dry spots everywhere as well as crab grass all over the greens as well as the fairways.
This could be a really nice course but seems
Like they have just
Let it go. Needs a lot of work
Greens need some TLC
Unfortunately there are patches of Poa grass growing on the greens. Same issue other courses are having but this is supposed to be an upper tier course in Orlando - this should not happen here.
Rest of the course was fine but it's all about saving strokes by making putts. You cannot is greens don't roll true.
Unplayable
Greens are gone. Course was never in great shape but was always consistent and greens were always reasonable. Don’t know what has happened there!
Not what it used to be.
The greens were in terrible shape but the course as a whole was ok. Hoping this place can get back to what it used to be.
Greens need major overhaul
The greens are either dirt and/or very uneven. Does not look like the grounds keeper is doing anything to repair.
