Eagle Dunes Golf Club
About
Eagle Dunes Golf Club in Sorrento sprawls across rolling elevation changes that aren't typically found on central Florida courses. The course also claims to have the area's truest putting surfaces. The layout stretches to just over 7,024 yards from the back tees. Long hitters will be pleased about the opportunity to grip it and rip it but ball placement is an important factor. The golf course is punishing even if you're only slightly errant. The vast sand traps seem like you're playing across a desert and the occasional water hazard comes into play as well. The wide, player-friendly fairways help to balance the challenges of the golf course. Since opening in 2003, Eagle Dunes Golf Club has garnered a strong following amongst locals and has earned the distinction of being one of Gold Digest's "Best Places to Play."

NEEDS WORK
IVE PLAYED THIS COURSE MANY TIMES GREENS ARE ALMOST PERFECT BUT THE FAIRWAYS HAVE MANY POT HOLES LAYOUT IS GOOD JUST BRING A PILLOW TO SIT ON
Great greens
I really enjoyed the layout of the course and the fast speed of the greens. So fast especially the downhill putts. So fun! Just like on TV. Great value and excellent pace of play if you go early in AM. Worth the almost hour long trip from Orlando
Always a fun track...
but they could have used a ranger. Two groups ahead of us was a five-some, and the four-some directly ahead of us were slower than them! I get it - new golfers - hit a lot of shots...but it gets frustrating waiting all the time.
Greens are VERY fast but very consistent.
SLOW
The course is in pretty good shape for time of year. The only problem we had was slow play.. Nobody Monitoring pace of play. Group ahead of us by the third hole was a full hole behind. Group ahead of them was a whole hole behind the Group ahead of them.. At the 17th tee box we waited and nobody was on 17 and 18 ahead of them.
Surprisingly Decent
Eagles Dunes was in decent shape Saturday. Greens were lightening fast. The layout has always been the main reason to play ED and that will never change. Fwys were fwys with some actually being soft and green. Dunes were dunes.
Snowbird season has the ticket in the mid $50s to low $60s, but that is typically attributed to Sat morning golf and snowbird season.
Practice facilities are exactly what you need to warm-up for the round. Cart lady was visible and informative and plenty of food varieties provided in clubhouse.
All in all, they met my expectations for the round. Good job!
Bring a couple extra balls.
The course is long with little water but lots of scrub and waste area that gobbled up some golf balls. Greens are slick and can be tricky. Overall, a fair, but challenge course.
Greens were excelkent
What a fun course. Played early on a cool morning and we finished in less than 3 1/2 hours. The greens were the fastest I have ever played on and very challenging. False fronts, difficult down hill putts , just like watching the pros on TV! Great value for the money
Disappointed
Really disappointed with this course after hearing so many good things. Playing here is like playing in a construction zone. Sand from the beach, high tension wires, dunes that feel like small landfills. Not great. Drive another 5 minutes down the road to Black Bear. It's so much better.
Disappointment
Quite disappointed, greens had a fungus pushing to the edge of being absolutely terrible. Pace of play was unbearable with a 4some in front of us who were 1 and 1/2 holes behind the group in front of them. They also played from the tees they should not have been playing from "although it is their choice".
Have played here for years but the last few I have seen it go down hill. Until it gets back in shape I would not recommend playing here.
Nice course
I’ve played Eagle Dunes a couple times now and it’s a fun course to play. Decent cart paths however there are a lot of rough rides off the paths fairways are good on most holes. As their name implies there is a lot of sand every hole. I look forward to playing here again!
Fun layout
This is a fun course with a layout you don't see often in Florida. Wide open. Price is very reasonable.
If the weather gets dry the conditions can suffer because this course doesn't have great irrigation options.
Country Pasture
This here is a course that has so much potential still in store.
With recent weather this course is holding on fairly well. Clubhouse feels like a rustic 70’s cottage. Just enough space to fit a few,
As an avid player I tend to deal good greens first, I’d rate these a 7.3/10 with respect to the weather. An a windy day this layout makes you PLAY GOLF! For the golf who’s looking to find a hangout place outside the city.
Now I’d like to say some upgrades in this place would mean every dollar !
Bummed
Went here last year and it wasn’t bad at all. This time though it was worse. Greens were very bumpy and the fairways felt like concrete in some areas. Other areas of the fairways were just sand as well as some fairways were blended with a few different types of grass. Probably won’t come back unless I hear there’s been some good changes. However it is a fair price for what you’re getting imo.
