The Golf Club of California
About
Situated just outside of Temecula, the Golf Club of California enjoys a scenic landscape provided by the rolling hills north of San Diego. The terrain is ideal for a round of golf, offering verdant acres of countryside blanketed with mature oaks, sycamores, and towering eucalyptus trees and accented with redtop grasses, which border the carefully manicured fairways and greens. Although there is an abundance of trees, the course still has many wide-open areas. The pristine white sand bunkers and colorful wildflowers are a beautiful contrast to the lush green of the course. The layout is not particularly long, but golfers should be prepared for a challenging round of target golf. The course features narrows fairways, plenty of elevation changes, and tricky greens that require an accurate approach. There are also a few meandering creeks that come into play.

Very good course
Booked on Golfnow....got paired up with couple of members...course condition n layout is pretty good...ball travel well...will play again.
golf club
very nice round. a bit too tough for me from the white tees. am 80 with an 18 handicap so i needed senior tees, but there are none. the fairways are thin which is also hard for me to strike down and take divot. greens are in good shape. bunkers are not white sand, which made it hard to exit. some tees are sloped a bit. the layout is very nice and challenging. would play here again and do a red/white combo. played on a Monday at noon. not too busy, so pace of ply was fine. finished in four hours in a threesome.
Dog track don’t waste your money
Horrible conditions. There are way better courses around here to play. The greens are horrible and the fairways are hard pan. Never going back.
Golf course of California
30 minutes late going out no carts available. Fun course we could only play 12.. I would like to go back and see the rest of the course.
AwesomeExperienve!
From the moment we got to The Golf Club of California, we felt “special”.. Our reservation through GOLFPASS, was in their system. The Proshop operator said, “Welcome. We were expecting you. Is this your first time here?” We said, “Yes” and were given a course guide and a brief introduction into some special tips for several holes He told us to make use of the Course Guide and we would be fine. Most of the holes were a bit unusual due to the geography’. We used every club in our bags during the day. For a late November gorgeous day, all the greens were perfect, fairways were green and much of the rough was green, but some of the rough had gone dormant.
Everyone was friendly, from the pro shop, to the starter, to the snack bar manager. We will look forward to going back next year when we visit Southern California again. Highest praise and thanks to everyone at the Golf Club of California. Out of a possible 5 rating, they get a perfect 5 rating from us.
Rambo
Wonderful course in great condition in spite of dry conditions. It' has some challenging holes that just fun to play if you're not worried about your score.
I highly recommend the course.
Staff were super friendly. We're Canadians and our team, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers were playing in our National Championship called the Grey Cup. The staff made extra effort to find the game for us when we came in after golf. Our team WON!
A perfect day in 'Paradise!'
That par 3
The par 3 with the stupid bunker in the middle of the green is probably the most idiotic thing I have seen. When we played the flag was directly behind the bunker with a landing area of 2 yards! Overall the course is pretty tight and curvy. Small greens means your approach shot must be on point.
GC of California
I played the Golf Club of California on Sunday, Nov 3. The weather was perfect and the course was in very good shape. The tee boxes were good, fairways very good with a few rough spots and some greens still recovering from being punched. The bunkers were some of the best I have seen in San Diego county. Pace of play was great. There was no cart service in the afternoon when we played but that may have been due to a wedding that was going on late in the day. Overall, another great day on the course.
Good time with course member
Met up with a member on first tee who helped greatly get me around the course. Fun course with interesting holes that require some strategy of the tee to get you in good position for approach shot. Greens are in a state of repair and are left on the longish side but they are ok to Put on and are very receptive. Loved the layout, POP was great, staff was accommodating. Will be back soon!
Another Great Day in Fallbrook
Course is recovering from the green punch. A great day was had!
wish it were closer
really fun course - opened as a private club, now open to us and when it started, it must of been great. They are working on the water features but does not detract from a challenge: tight tee shot and blind lay-ups are terrific fun and a break from up and back routing.
A Tale of Two Courses
This course has a fantastic layout, which is challenging for advanced players yet quite playable for the beginner. The fairways and greens were in good shape with plenty of grass. The greens rolled at a medium to slow pace. The tee boxes were level, but they were beginning to aerate them on the day we were there. The rough on the other hand was in horrible shape. The majority of the rough was either nothing but dirt or weeds. It was like playing two different courses as it related to conditions. The practice facility is great with grass tees and a large chipping area. Even though the rough is in bad shape, I would definitely play here again. Great course with friendly staff.
Honest Review
I like to break down parts of the experience.
1. Clubhouse/Staff: Easy check-in. The guy in the pro shop was nice and no issuse checking in. The starter was funny and asked if we had any course questions.
2: Course/Pace of Play: Course was in good shape for where the course is located. It's hot up there, so don't expect plush fairways. The fairways are more than playable, and people who complain about the fairways during the summer months in SD are just fools. The greens need a lot of work. Very patchy, dead grass and patchwork. San traps had dirt, just a little hard-packed, but you can get your club under it. The pace of play was very respectable. Couple hole we waited an extra min, but never really slowed you down. Overall, if you play the correct tee, then you should enjoy the course.
Issues: started at 1 and was told cart girl was working. 18 holes and did not see her once. Did not make us very happy. There were plenty of tee times on the course in front of us and behind. Maybe the course needs to understand people do golf at twilight times too. Water stations are non-existent. Its dam hot out there and no cart girl makes it a long dry day of you have no water. Come on management, you need to put a water cooler every 4 holes in this heat.
Overall: For $40 bucks at twilight its a fun course to play. Has a great challenge from all tee boxes, if you play the correct one. Bring some extra balls, the course gets tight in a couple of places. I would play the course again, as well recommend it.
Stacked on the back
Don’t know what happened. The bottle neck started on 13 and we creeped in.
Nice day at the golf club of California just a slow finish.
