About
Situated just outside of Temecula, the Golf Club of California enjoys a scenic landscape provided by the rolling hills north of San Diego. The terrain is ideal for a round of golf, offering verdant acres of countryside blanketed with mature oaks, sycamores, and towering eucalyptus trees and accented with redtop grasses, which border the carefully manicured fairways and greens. Although there is an abundance of trees, the course still has many wide-open areas. The pristine white sand bunkers and colorful wildflowers are a beautiful contrast to the lush green of the course. The layout is not particularly long, but golfers should be prepared for a challenging round of target golf. The course features narrows fairways, plenty of elevation changes, and tricky greens that require an accurate approach. There are also a few meandering creeks that come into play.

Bunker on the green!
This is my first time play This course and really like it. It was designed to naturally integrate with ancient oaks, majestic sycamores, towering eucalyptus trees, and beautiful red-top grasses that line the manicured fairways and undulating greens. Stunning white sand bunkers and colorful wildflowers add beautiful contrast to the course, while a variety of elevation changes provide tranquil backcountry views. Such a great experience!

Hot Deals Beware
If you get a hot deal they will not check you in until 10 minutes before the tee time in order to prevent you from going out early. They wont give you a cart until that time. They will take you to the range and leave you there. I bought range balls to warm up but they had to pick the range and I wouldn't have any time to warm up and get off on time. When I spoke to the GM about how ridiculous this was, I was basically told "that's our policy, too bad." No accommodations were to be made despite me being a regular player at this course for many, many years, playing 2-3 rounds a month here. The proshop staff member was patronizing about the whole situation and conversation too.
The starter was nice and understanding about it, but his hands were tied. It is apparently a policy from the "owners."
Greens were good, fairways thin, rough was basically non-existent, tee boxes were good, bunkers were in good shape as well with rakes (poor COVID procedures with rakes in play!). They've ruined #12 with the fence alongside the left side, and it's near unplayable right now because nothing will hold the fairway.

Needs work
Greens were OK but fairways were in terrible shape. Course needs serious upgrade

Fun layout
Excellent greens but fairways need a lot of work. May be due to seasonal dormancy but several other area courses are well ahead with their fairways. Course is challenging and fun with great natural terrain features. I really enjoyed the layout.

Awesome track
Beautiful views. Could have used a Marshall on course. Couldn’t get in full 18 had to skip 3 holes to find hole 17 empty. Pace of play by one group slowed it down. This with even group in front of us bailing out at the 10th tee. Otherwise enjoyed my round

Conditions do not justify the $$cost
Very difficult course, greens were in good shape, tbox good shape, but fairways, rough or lack of rough, and bunkers bad! It’s March the best time of year for great grass and conditions and it was embarrassing that I brought a guest for $80!!

Waste of time and money!
Our foursome teed off at 7:30. We hit some range balls at the range which looked extremely neglected. $10 for 3/4 of a bucket of beat up range balls? Teed off right on time as there weren’t too many people teeing off that early. Had a couple singles that had teed off around 6:30 but we never saw them.
The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. The cart guy was awesome and so was the gentleman who checked us in and gave us some course tips.
The greens and tee boxes were pretty good and you could tell they were pretty well maintained. The fairways were another story. I’ve played all over Southern California and these may have been the worst fairways I’ve seen in years! Basically we were penalized for hitting our drives in the fairway. There were several holes where we would aim at green patches off the fairway so we’d at least have grass to hit off of.
We drove over an hour to get here to a round for my brother’s birthday and were extremely disappointed. I wouldn’t come back here even if they comped the round. Wouldn’t be worth the waste of gasoline. We paid $55 on a hot deal and over paid by $55.
Save your money and go somewhere else. If you’re close enough to the Palm Springs/Palm Desert area the courses out there are in great shape. Maybe this course needs to take some tips from the guys out there because they need help!
