Played here dozens of times. It was clear that the pinsetter was having a rough day. Half the cups were only 1/4” below the surface, tilted, and numerous non-conforming locations on the sides of ridges or too close to the green edge. Particularly hole 7 was set in a spot where it was impossible to have the ball stop within 5’ of the hole.

Great layout on a beautiful property at the base of the foothills. No two holes are alike, and the front 9 is completely different from the back. Also, 5 par 3’s is a nice touch. Empire could be the best public course in the area if they only kept it in better shape. Only 2 bunkers have actual sand, the greens are lumpy, and the grass in the fairways is either dead or flooded. It’s a shame that they let it get this bad, but I guess when the tee sheet is completely full there is no need for them to improve

Having played this course numerous times previously, the greens were in awesome shape and fast. The course was in decent shape but it had just rained so a lot of wet areas on several holes, making my black shoes brown now. Several holes had ground under repair, but they were being worked on. Pace of play was good having finished in about 4 hours. Staff is always friendly and would play again.

Did not enjoy the amount of walking required. Even with a cart I had to walk back and forth from the cart path so many times I felt like I had walked the full course

It is a fairly well maintained course and is always busy being an only golf course in Folsom area.

One thing I always notice that there are many soggy patches of grass that seem dying of over-watering. If your approach shot does not get one the green. it will not roll on. It is wet and very soft especially in low areas.

Bunker's gotten more sand but some are wet. again too much watering.

Greens always preety good.

I hope the greenskeeper or manager can address the soggy condition.
