Slow play high handicappers course no respectable Marshals Overrated OVERPRICED

Some of the reviews here put me off trying this course, but I thought it was great. started at 2PM on a cool day, caught up with another group and joined them. pace was fine. grass condition was fine. all the traps I hit into had fine sand in them (2). The blind fairways over hills were a challenge for a first timer, and I'm sure I still have a ball sitting in the middle of one fairway that I just couldn't find over the blind hill. I enjoyed it a lot and will try it again. a lot easier than Apple Mountain or The Ridge in my opinion. I'm a high handicapper and shot to my handicap here.. it was fun and encouraging after losing so many sleeves of balls at Apple Mountain.

Far too often courses don’t manage the pace of play. There is rarely a Marshall on this course and often times groupings are waiting 5 to 10 minutes to tee off, specifically on the 18th. Drawback of having a par 3 as the finishing hole. Perhaps flip the front and back 9 so people stopping at the turn also don’t hold up play while getting food.

It really takes away from this course, which is pretty open and fairly simple yet fun to play. It is the only course in Folsom and it’s pretty much always full.

Love this course layout. Pace of play was good on the front 9 then slowed way down on the back. Course conditions have gone downhill over time, and I would like to see them capitalize more on the popularity of the driving range. They can open it for more hours or expand the size, make more money and put that into the course maintenance. Lots of ground under repair, ugly rough sue to lack of maintenance, and big puddles of water in the bunkers. For the price I expect better from this course.

At 630 am I would expect to play in three hours, not 4:15

Overall great experience. Greens roll well, well maintained rough, but the bunkers still need significant work. Many bunkers with hard sand, some with stagnant water from sprinklers - this is a chronic problem here. Nonetheless, I really enjoy playing this course.

First time playing this course, and I will play again. A lot of dog legs to hills with geens below. A strategic course where you don't always need your driver. The last hole is interesting as well.

Traps need some work, like some sand. Sure they haven't been reconditioned for 3-5 yrs

The service is absolutely terrible, the course conditions are not awful but not worth the green fee. You have to be 21+ to get a cart which is obscured. This creates maximum traffic on busy days causing an 18 hole game to run 6+ hours long. Have multiple groups of walkers in front of you is not ideal at all. In the clubhouse the food prices are absolutely not worth what you get. Mcdonald’s meals for $20+ is crazy.

Pace of play was quite slow. The group ahead of us was very slow. There were two children and a very senior player. We never encountered a course marshal.

Empire Ranch is very well-maintained from the tee boxes to the fairways and on the greens. The sand traps are not always great, but they have improved recently. Greens are always I. Good condition & sneaky fast. Could use a few shade trees around the tee boxes but other than that a very good track and well-maintained.

I will continue playing Empire Ranch. The overall experience is 5-stars based on the price/value proposition. Looking forward to my next round.

Pace of play and pace management was awful. there were 5 foursomes on the 10th hole.

They should expand the driving range and take better care of the bunkers.
