Empire Ranch Golf Club

I was running late a bit so I missed my tee time by 5 min. However, the guy behind the counter checked me in with NO issue and the marshall on the 1st tee did the same.

About 15 min later, Rick chased me down on the 2nd hole to tell me a few things that sounded like he made it up, specially about my 2 service dogs. I clearly asked permission and asked Matt to note it down so there wouldn't be any issues. I've trained the dogs to be on the leash at all times to sit and stay on the cart while I'm playing the whole 18 holes. I've played hundreds of rounds and numerous courses and never had any issues. I can post pictures with the dogs in the cart if needed, but I'm NOT planning to come back to play this course ever again.

Empire Ranch is a great golf course in the Folsom area. It's a fun design and is usually in pretty good shape. We played on one of the hottest days of the year and it was in great condition. The greens were maybe a little on the softer/wetter side, but the rest of the course was playing great. Empire Ranch is a shorter course, but it still has some challenging holes. Fun and definitely scorable for average golfers. Staff is always great! We love the cart girl, shoutout to Rain! We will definitely be back soon.

Since the last time I played Empire Ranch, the bunkers are in much better condition with new sand. Fairways are n a little bit of rough shape on some holes. Greens are in good shape. Good tract!

They had a senior mixed tournament playing a scramble. It made the pace unplayable. They need to announce tournaments ahead of time so I can make informed decision as to whether or not to play that day.

Front desk said “Simply weekend golf”. Wrong!

Course has been in the best shape I’ve seen it in for a while. Greens are fast compared to other courses in the area. Most waste areas have been recently mowed to help golfers find errant shots. Pace could always be better here. Lots of slow golfers who refuse to order food at the turn ahead of time; brings the back nine to a screeching halt. Practice area could use a bigger green /chipping area near the range, which sits separate from the clubhouse. Green near the clubhouse is for putting only. Driving range is always mats only… is what it is

Not many tricky holes. 18 is the signature, with difficult elevated tee, but made significantly easier from the whites since they were moved down the hill. 8 always plays an extra half club long.

Staff is always friendly and many items on the clubhouse menu are pretty good.

The tees, fairways, bunkers and greens were all in good condition. The range has a lot of distance markers but unfortunately you have to bring your own tee receptacle if you want to hit driver. Pace of play was just under five hours as we had to wait on every hole. Would have been a five-star rating otherwise.

Well groomed with fast greens. Pace on front 9 was good but slowed on back 9. Clubhouse is nice but not fancy. Average rates for the Sacramento area.

The course is in good shape. But at this time of the year, that’s what you would expect. Only complaint is the bunkers. Somehad nice white fluffy sand. Others were nothing but dirt.
