Alaqua Country Club
About
Alaqua Country Club was designed by golf legend Gary Player and opened in 1988. Player put his personal stamp on the private 18-hole golf course, with its elevated tees and other features that make it playable for his level of golfer as well as high handicappers.
Alaqua Country Club leads off with a 501-yard par-5 hole, a picturesque tee shot from an elevated tee. There is water on the left all the way to the green and a wooded area on the right. The fairway narrows the last 50 yards to the green.
The golf course measures 6,662 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 72.3, and it has a slope rating of 129 on Bermuda grass

Too many blind holes with blind landing areas
The course is under construction so number 10 and 18 are altered. You have no hole diagram to tell you the layout of the hole and no yardage books to give you any idea how far you can hit before you're wet or off the fairway.
The cart girl was very friendly and came around fairly often.
The inside and outside staff were great and very helpful.
This course needs to add a few things and it will move up in my rating. It's a hard course but it's not fair because of all the blind shots and approaches.
There was a lot of wildlife, deer, turkey, bird, etc.
Challenging, good bang for your buck
Even with the construction work going on, course is in great shape. I do like how 18 will somewhat resemble the 18th prior to the construction. Course will punish players for being off the fairway in certain instances. Must know your distance. Greens rolled very well, and the new boxes were very nice.
Great Wildlife
There is always wildlife on this course. Makes for an enjoyable round. The course was in really good condition. There were a couple greens that need a little help and two holes have been shortened due to constuction. But well worth the price.
Stupendous Member For A Day Opportunity!
This is without question one of the best opportunties to play golf in Central Florida. It is a private course in an ultra private community rolling through palacial multi-million dollar mansions, verdant landscapes and unbridled wildlife - the deer, wild turkeys, osprey, bears, eagles, hawks and myriad other animal wildlife are in congress with the players and inhabitants of this community. Great challenging course - - I play from the penultimate tees, just under 7000 yards - - with manicured fairways, lush but equitable rough, cavernous bunkers and a hilly terrain. The staff's professionalism and etiquette is commensurate with that of a private course. The gas carts are a tad antediluvian for a course of this caliber, but the rest of the experience more than makes up for the older carts. A must play if you can.
this course has great features
The course is in great shape, they have plenty of drinking water through out the course.
Unbelievable value
This course has been private for years and is now opened the doors to the public, and you need to run and play here. Still maintained as though it's private. You have to place the ball here though - surely not a typical Central Florida resort course.
Course has great potential.
Course seemed extremely wet, despite the recent lack of rain. The majority of greens and fairways were in decent shape but, due to some construction, some were in rough shape. More deer than golfers and a bunch of wild turkeys on the course. Stay in the fairway to avoid losing a bunch of balls. Overall, it was a good experience and we will go back.
nice course
construction going on for new homes. but great course
Excellent course and staff.
We had a great day of golf on a challenging course.
The course and the scenery are fantastic. Love running across the deer.
Are you kidding me. It was a priviledge to get to play this course for the amount I paid on the deal in Golf.Now. The carts and the staff and the course is great. The added bonus is being able to see the deer in a natural habitat.
Good course, enjoyable round
Course is very good, challenging holes but fair for the higher handicapper too. Lots of wildlife to be seen around. Construction work means 10 and 18 have been significantly shortened though. Clubs hired weren't fantastic while the tees and bunkers need a little bit of attention too but overall an enjoyable round of golf.
Great course, beautiful estate
This is a beautiful course which wends its way through a gated community with some stunning properties to admire. Water features quite heavily, making many of the holes visually appealing as well as challenging at times. Course overall was well maintained, greens in good condition, but building work means that the 18th hole has been dramatically reduced and a temporary green put in, which was a rather sad end to an otherwise great round. Also a shame that such a peaceful course has noisy and sluggish petrol golf carts. Also remember to ask for the code for the toilet block, as we didn't know it so couldn't use the on-course toilets.
Will definitely play again, great value for money.
Wildlife abundent
Great layout and well maintained. You will see many deer and may even see the bear we saw yesterday. Got to go 400 lbs and is a black bear. Almost walked up to us. Some of the deer you can get within 30 feet. As for the golf, if you can remember to play it's enjoyable.
NICE COURSE, VERY WET, DEER EVERYWHERE
CONDITIONS VARIED FROM HOLE TO HOLE. ALL THE RAIN
TOOK ITS TOLL ON SEVERAL GREENS,&7/29/2013 LEFT SOME AREAS OF ROUGH & FAIRWAYS UNPLAYABLE. STILL A VERY PLEASANT EXPIERENCE & WILL STILL DRIVE THE 90 MILES TO PLAY AGAIN. BY THE WAY, MAKE SURE TO TAKE YOUR CAMERA.
Alaqua country club was a great course.
They are doing some construction on a couple of holes but other than that the course is in great shape. There's a lot of water in play so when you come make sure you bring an extra half dozen of golf balls!
Could Be Called Deer Run?
Course in very good condition especially considering all the rain. Deer everywhere, several holes there were 10+ on the tee boxes. Played in less than 3.5 hours.
Awesome Wild Life - Nice Chalenge
Costi, Austin, and Zach - Way cool. Never been treated better.
Course should have been under water but was still very playable, and the minimum of 5 deer on each hole were only a visual distraction. Never made a peep while I was hitting. "I'll be back" Thanks guys !
Well maintained; Beautiful surroundings; Lots of wildlife.
Challenging, but fair. Undergoing some construction now at the
beginning and the end of the back nine, a temporary inconvenience.A truly enjoyable experience.
