Alaqua Country Club

About
Alaqua Country Club was designed by golf legend Gary Player and opened in 1988. Player put his personal stamp on the private 18-hole golf course, with its elevated tees and other features that make it playable for his level of golfer as well as high handicappers.
Alaqua Country Club leads off with a 501-yard par-5 hole, a picturesque tee shot from an elevated tee. There is water on the left all the way to the green and a wooded area on the right. The fairway narrows the last 50 yards to the green.
The golf course measures 6,662 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 72.3, and it has a slope rating of 129 on Bermuda grass

Fun, but no range
Great course only problem was construction near clubhouse so no driving range. For members only while construction is ongoing.
Alaqua is a great course for all type players
Course has great physical features, From the senior tees(Yellow) I enjoyed the course, if you can hit a fade for r/h golfer you will find it beneficial. I also enjoyed the occasional wildlife, deer and waterfowl
This course is the best kept secret in the central Florida area.
This course is in great condition with all tee areas being pristine the greens were aerefied and still in good shape to putt on. I recommend this course to anyone seeking a great deal for the money.
this course nice features
new construction ,on the 10 hole, quite a few holes water on one side woods on the other biggest problem was they air rated the greens got to the 13 hole got upset missed par because of the sand on the green and left the 14th also there is a lot of space between tees
Overall a great experience.
This is one of my favorite courses in central Florida. Next to a nature preserve, you will see deer, hawks, wild turkey, and gators. Course is in good, but not great shape. It is also lined with mansions, which adds to the experience. I have been here many time and has yet to disappoint. For the money, it's tough to beat.
Great course
Unbelievable value for the course. Highly recommend this place to anyone! Great views with lots of deer on and around the course.
Excellent Course, 2 holes being worked on
Played this course this past weekend. Started on Friday, but was rained out. Received a rain check despite being at the twilight rate. Played all the way through on Saturday.
They are doing some work by the clubhouse and holes 10 and 18 are now par 4 and par 3, respectively, moving the course from 72 to 70. Also, be aware hole 10 is approximately 230 yds despite no yardage sign.
Overall really enjoyed this course. Lots of room for driver and great variation. Also, an incredibly beautiful course with really scenic drives between the holes.
WILL DEFINITELY PLAY AGAIN.
Great Course
I have only been playing for two years and this course really made me pay attention to my aiming off the Tee and my appraoch shots. I knew i was going to leave some balls to the golf gods...and i did! Great staff, beautiful course, lots of VERY tame deer, a few aligators, birds and turtles. I will definatly go back as my game improves.
Lots of water and very challenging.
A very good course because of the condition. Extremely challenging because of the water. Highly recommend.
play it while you can
Alaqua is a fine layout, elevated tee boxes, cushy fairways, nice amount of bermuda rough. Some construction around the clubhouse, but they do a good job working around it. Not an easy course. Pretty, natural, I like it. I'll be back.
courses are excelant
this golf course are more than super nice I should say
but few green need repair.
beautiful well maintained tight course
This golf course is very challenging. A lot of fun to play here.
Noseeums bad here........
Played this course and the biting gnats and noseeums got very bad on 9 and stayed that way the entire back. By the time I got off the course I looked like had a horrible body rash. The only good thing was they did not itch or welt up. They went away after 24 hours but very annoying when trying to play. I think this is due to all the water on this course; swamp, holding ponds, lakes - water everywhere. I don't plan on playing this course ever again.
Water torture
This was a fun course with some challenging dog legs, water hazards, and the occasional animal encounter. I felt like there were water hazards everywhere and due to last nights rain, a lot of the sand traps were like watering holes for the deer. Due to the construction there was no driving range so if you are like me and need to get the shanks out , the first few holes are your adjustment period. The last hole was a joke. A stated par 4 was barely a 3 and in rough condition. Almost an after though because of the construction
This course has deer that freely roam.
Unfortunately, it rained. But I love this course, its very peaceful.
Under Construction
The course area is under construction for a new housing development . So access to 10th hole and the 10th itself is a work site. Other than all the rain we have had, the course plays great and is a great value for the money.
Good course with beautiful scenery. Target golf for sure.
Liked the course and will come back for sure. I am a beginner player and found it to be challenging as you have to be in the fairway , not much room on the sides for error.
Construction is small annoyance, but otherwise it is a good course.
There is construction happening near 1st, 10th and 18th holes. We played for a discounted rate, which is fair. The driving range was not available, only the chipping and putting area.
The course is challenging and full of nature. Because of the repairs, I would give it a 7 out of 10. In normal times, I would rate it at an 8.5 level.
Great after work course
For $20 this course is great. Not too busy on a weekday afternoon and the course is in good shape.
Great course
Everything about this course was great. They were doing a lot of construction, but it only affected number 10 and 18 which were playing short. But the course was in great condition, not overly crowded, and I saw a lot of wildlife which is always fun.
