The Lincoln Hills Golf Club - Hills Course

Traps not very good, but chose to treat them as ground under repair! Greens quick - wish everyone repaired their ball marks! The fairways are overwatered in the early morning, but great in the afternoon! Too bad no sand and seed bottles as the approach shots sometimes ended up in a divot!

Wonderful, slightly windy day. Greens are fast, fast. Fun to play. T boxes and fairways in great shape. Off on time. 4 hour round. Perfect golf day!

Wrote a three star “first-time” review for the other L/H course (Orchard) earlier this week (nice greens; everything back to the tee boxes not so good). The “regulars” with whom I played were embarrassed by that course’s condition and recommended I play the “much nicer” Hills. So I did yesterday. Sadly, The Hills (now with punched greens) is afflicted with the same problems. I live out of state but often play public courses in the greater Sacramento area. The issues with the two L/H courses aren’t ambiance, design, carts or staff, all of which are fine, or lack of water (there are plenty of ponds and everything is green). The course obviously get lots of play, and of course no one expects Pebble for $40. The issue is conditioning and maintenance. Many of the original bunkers are now weed-strewn, concrete-hard “waste areas”. OK, that’s happening everywhere; just drop outside and keep moving. Unfortunately, “outside” is usually as bad or worse. All but a few of the “fairways” were patchy, weed infested, ill defined, clumpy, and bordered by high/deep unmown areas - even just 12” off the greens! The unmown areas cause slow play with too many lost balls and multiple bad shots. (This isn’t the US Open - just mow everything low everywhere and keep people moving.) I understand maintenance takes money, labor, equipment, water, and chemicals. I also understand times are tougher, and perhaps regulations limit use of herbicides, but the two L/H courses are filled with weeds, seem further behind in maintenance than other local courses, and now impress one as being at or headed toward a “low muni” level. So, come on L/H, you have very nice staff, great facilities and wonderful designs. Please figure out a way to give both courses the care and attention they need.

Cost too much for the level of the Course - very average layout

Appeared the course was pretty crowded; but we were allowed to get off a bit early, had a 3-some in front of us who played a perfect pace, and finished the 18 under the course time. Course is in very nice shape and a pleasure to play.

Expected better from a Course that does not accept Tee-off/GolfNow Dicount offers. Course conditions in very poor shape. Lots of weeds; overgrown tee boxes. Expected better for a Sun City Course.

When finished the round the temperature was 101 going up to 102 but still completed the 18 holes. Very enjoyable layout and challenging greens. Some works can be appreciated in the areas of the greens and the markings. There are no hole posts, no yard markers except the 150 yard barbershop posts. Bunkers needed rakes and some water spots needed drained. On the greens, there were some geese refused and unrepaired divots. The starter was somewhat bossy but the pro shop staff was very friendly and helpful.
