The Palmer Course is one of two golf courses at La Cantera Resort, it is named after its famous designer, golf legend Arnold Palmer. Firmly situated on 225 acres of Texas Hill Country, the golf course features plenty of elevation changes to keep golfers on their toes. There is also an abundance of mature oaks covering the course, requiring accuracy off the tees. The unique layout incorporates dramatic waterfalls, lakes, and numerous white sand bunkers throughout. La Cantera Resort’s Palmer Course has several signature holes, most notably the fourth hole. This demanding par 3 requires a long carry over a lake with waterfalls along the front of the green.

Finishing hole. The 2nd shot into the green is possible one of the most beautiful shots a golfer can make. Photo submitted by mstacy769 on 06/27/2013

Great Test of Golf
Course is in fantastic shape. The elevation changes provide a great test and make the round very enjoyable.
Awesome
Great course, u lose urself with the great views and lay-out.
Great Course to Playh
This course is a must play in the San Antonio area. It is very beautiful and well maintained. If I am ever in the this area again I will for sure play this course. The staff were very friendly and treated us great. Do not go to San Antonio without playing here.
Great Course for the Price
Play a lot of destination golf, and this course is always on the list when my wife and I visit Hill Country. Great design, always in great shape, price is always competitive, great value, and the view from the 19th hole is great. Any picture you see of this place is no exaggeration. A San Antonio must play
Fabulous coures
Course was beautiful along with the scenery. Greens were in great condition
Good Course for hot deal price right now
Course was is in decent shape for winter, but the bunkers were in disarray. If you got into to a bunker that was downwind there was no sand in the bunker, I'm talking less than an inch. Whether or not you had sand to hit out of in the bunker was pure luck. Greens were a bit bumpy but that is somewhat expected for winter greens. Finally, it would have been nice for someone on staff to heed a warning that some of the bunkers may not have much sand in them.
Vacation golf
Visiting Texas from NY for a week we hit a few golf courses. This one was beautiful. Very hilly and scenic. Challenging golf but worth it. Pretty quiet golfing during the week day. The staff was so friendly, professional and helpful. We had a great time in sunny Texas golfing.
Slow
Pace was so bad I did not get to finish past hole 12. Not good.
Course is ingreat shape.
Course is in great shape. Fairways are very clean and the greens are exceptional. Staff was very helpful and food was great ! Will definitely add the course to my list of great golf courses in San Antonio. Will definitely play here again!
Great course!
All around good, almost great, course. Traps need to be re done. Staff great. I'll play again.
Challenging, yet fun course
We love playing at La Cantera. The staff is so friendly and helpful, and the course is well maintained. Putting can be a challenge, so take the time to read your putts. P. S. The views of the surrounding area are spectacular!
Wonderful course
I have been told by several people that this course was a must-play, and they were correct. The staff was friendly, the course was in perfect shape and the marshals and starter kept everything running smoothly. My only caution is to bring your A game. This is a very challenging course with fast greens. I'm a 14 handicap and we played from the silver which was more than enough challenge. I would highly recommend this course. I will be back next year.
First
Staff very friendly . Course was in good shape greens ran true and fast for being in the 40 degrees it was.
High and Low Grades
Condition was TV quality and extremely scenic but Layout is very gimmicky and some greens all but impossible to read correctly. Not real sure I'd want to play it again
It's a must play for a reason
The vistas alone make this course worth playing. Just an amazing piece of land to work with. The course is very fun, and super challenging. Drive it straight, or your ball is a goner. The greens were perfect and had nice pace. I would love to play this again. You need to play it a few times to figure out some of the lines off the tee and where you can't miss the greens. Only minor criticism is that there isn't enough sand in the bunkers. Had a great day.
Best San Antonio Scenery
The La Cantera Palmer Course was not only extremely scenic, but also very good golf. Views stretched from Northen San Antonio all the way to the Tower of the Americas downtown. The golf was excellent from hole 1 to 18. Must play for anyone traveling into the area. Conditions were great for early January. Greens rolled true. Extremely tough to putt with the slopes though. Three putts are inevitable. A few blind tee shots but do not hinder play because those holes are slightly shorter once the top of the hill are reached. Must play. Great course.
