The Palmer Course is one of two golf courses at La Cantera Resort, it is named after its famous designer, golf legend Arnold Palmer. Firmly situated on 225 acres of Texas Hill Country, the golf course features plenty of elevation changes to keep golfers on their toes. There is also an abundance of mature oaks covering the course, requiring accuracy off the tees. The unique layout incorporates dramatic waterfalls, lakes, and numerous white sand bunkers throughout. La Cantera Resort’s Palmer Course has several signature holes, most notably the fourth hole. This demanding par 3 requires a long carry over a lake with waterfalls along the front of the green.

Visually Stunning
Most visually appealing course I've played to date.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. You can't find anything nearly as nice in Houston for anywhere close to the price. Will definitely be back.

Great course, great price . . .
Weather was spotty (drizzle) but mostly dry. Course played very well and greens were very fast. Fairways, greens all in very good condition. Very enjoyable round.

Slow slow slow and rude staff
I don't understand why someone working a golf shop has to be rude to paying customers. The guy behind the counter acted like we were second rate because we purchased our tee times on golfnow. Rude staff and I will not ever return to this course because of it. There are too many options in and around San Antonio to go back somewhere that treats their customers bad. The only staff member that was nice to us the entire time there was the starter.
Next, they advertise "your time matters" on their website and that pace of play is 4:30. We teed off at 12:30ish and finished in the dark. Slowest resort style course I've ever played. Marshalls did nothing to speed up pace. We waited on every tee box. Go somewhere else like Tapatio or Brackenridge.

Great course in the Texas Hill Country
What a great course in the hills of San Antonio. I got a great rate on golf now and decided to play the course when I came in town since my sister lives off the course. The facilities were immaculate, and the views from the clubhouse windows are tough to beat anywhere.
Now, to the course. The course is hilly, and i mean hilly. Living in Tampa, I was not used to the elevation changes and it definitely cost me strokes during the round. The greens were in perfect condition and ran true and very fast! The fairways were also in perfect condition and rivaled some of the best I've played. A lot of blind shots and fairways that sloped toward cliffs, so keeping your ball in the middle of the fairway is paramount. The first par 3 with the Minnie Palmer memorial bridge gave me problems. I can't think of the last time I've had over a double on a par 3, and I carded a 9!! out of the bushes on that one. This course will challenge any player with the elevation changes and blind tee shots. I would say it is a course you have to play a few times to master. Also the views throughout the course are beautiful while looking down on the city of San Antonio.
Overall, this course is definitely a must play when in the San Antonio area, and I can't wait to give it another go. I've played many courses in the San Antonio area and this one tops them all.

La Cantera Palmer review
I played this course on a Sunday afternoon. i arrived early to the facility and asked if i could get out earlier than my reserved tee time. They allowed me to do this, as well as allowing me to play as a singe. Due to this, the pace of play was excellent. Nobody in front of me or behind me. My round took about 2 hours 45 minutes, including some delays looking for errant shots. The course was in great shape and the weather was wonderful.

Beautiful views
I am ready to go back. Bunkers were washed some from recent rains. Did not affect my play. Would love to play it more to get used to the greens. They were fast. Have to stay in the fairway to score.

Must play San Antonio course.
Course conditions were excellent..........plush fairways and moderately fast greens. Challenging layout, but awesome views. Always a good deal to grab a time with Golf Now reduced rates. Would love to play either of LaCantera courses more often. It's definitely a Troon experience.

Simply spectacular
Incredible golf experience. Greens are ridiculously fast. But the course is wonderful. Several blind shots but the GPS helps. Amazing elevation changes and views. The long wooden bridge near the finish felt like riding the rattler. Such a special course. Don't miss it if you have the opportunity. I will return soon.

Such a beautiful course that will truly challenge even the best golfer. The whole staff from the mintute we arrived until we left was so welcoming. While we lost a lot of golf balls it was a truly amazing experience, so much I booked another reservation again for our next round.
