La Cantera Resort - The Palmer Course

Course was in outstanding condition. Greens were fast but true. This course doesn't

get the pub it really deserves. Ill be back!

Course is in great shape with some awesome views of SA. It's challenging with a lot of blind, uphill tee shots.

Now granted, we did play the afternoon after a thunderstorm hit. Conditions were slightly soggy but not flooded. Practice range closes at noon? So no practice to warm up. Were never instructed in clubhouse of by starter that it was cartpath only, even though the group in front of us were on the fairway, so when we did the same, GPS failed to work thus giving us a guessing game of borrowing a rangefinder from one of us which got annoying after tge few first holes. Some of the cartpaths are quite a distance from some landing spots and it just isn't very fun playing like that carrying 2 or more clubs walking across the fairway, looking at sprinkler for yardage or playing the guessing game.

That being said, it is (personally) the toughest course in San Antonio. Roughs can be punishing and even finding your ball can be an obstacle. Some of the views are absolutely fantastic though, 18 is near impossible to beat, both with the view and score! Looking forward to going at it again hopefully with better luck.

Played Sunday morning after the course received almost 2" of rain early Sunday morning! every sand trap was full of water, considered GUR, cart path only on a course that has more elevation changes than some mt ranges. The range was "irons" only! how could this place host a PGA event and not hit drivers/woods? Course should have been closed but no rain check, no discount for conditions! plan accordingly! beautiful course but not under those conditions, greens were extremely slow guessing due to the rains the night before. if you don't have a Rangefinder with a slope on it, forget it! Lots of blind tee shots! Plays a lot longer than the scorecard shows!

Plan to play twice if you can! A few surprises the first round! Beautiful place

On the day we were booked there was a chance of storms and sure enough it hit on the 7th hole. We went to the clubhouse to see if the storm would pass. 3 hours later it finally stopped. The issue is that they told us we could play and would not issue a rain check...even though there was lighting in the area. It was "play at your own risk", as much as I love golf my life isn't worth it. Personally I won't go back but if you play on a day with storms in the forecast be very wary.

Very pretty track. Had some light rain on the front but it was warm. Played the next day because I could.

Perfect example of how a course should be maintained. Green rolled true and quick. Fairways were in the best shape and wayward shots were penalized accordingly. Probably the best course I have ever played. Found a great deal on GolfNow for $35 per person, so it was more than worth the money. The views are amazing and the carts come with a GPS to help with shot selection.

Tons of hills and elevation changes. The cart GPS already accounts for slope. Not every hole is a driver hole, which is a welcome change. We are already planning our next weekend trip there to play again.

This golf course is truly breath taking, with beautiful fairways and greens manicured to perfection. It almost looks fake. But don't let this course's beauty deceive you, because it's a difficult course, with narrow, and very undulating fairways. If you slice 'em or hook 'em, you'll most likely lose your ball in the woods. The staff was super friendly. The marshal even gave us tip on strategy when playing the course. I was only able to play the front nine, and cannot wait to return and play all 18.

From the start with the drive up the hill to the clubhouse. You know you are going to be challenged by the elevation changes on this course. Several holes have blind tee shots but for the most part the fairways are wide. The greens were in excellent condition although somewhat difficult to read. Make sure you take the time to enjoy the views of San Antonio and the surrounding Hill Country. Would put this on the list of must play in San Antonio

I finally made it out to play the famed Palmer course and I wasn't disappointed in the least. I found a deeply discounted rate on golf now which was already a good start. Upon arrival the staff was friendly and helpful. The course was oddly empty when we began our round but picked up well after we made the turn. The layout in the hill country is amazing and the course was in absolute perfect condition. From tee to green the course was absolutely beautiful, hats off to the maintenance staff for keeping this course so nice this early into the year. The greens rolled true to the reads you would expect on Bermuda grass. I will definitely be back and highly recommend playing this Palmer masterpiece.

It was a pleasure to treat play this course. A joy to see the tribute hole to Winnie Palmer, great condition excellent greens.

You'll be lost in the views of the beautiful hill country and San Antonio skyline surrounding you, however, you need to keep your focus to accept the challenge of the slopes and ridges!

Played in a 25 mile/hr wind. Already tough course was extremely difficult. Course was in great shape and was a fantastic layout. Jut pick a calm day!

COMING OFF THE COURSE AN ATTENDANT CAME TO THE CART BEFORW HE LAID A HAND ON THE CLUBS HE WAS TIPPED VERY WELL.

FROM THAT POINT ON WAS A NIGHTMARE

WENT TO THE CLUB HOUSE FOR A PRINT OUT, FOUR STAFF MEMBERS AND NO ONE KNEW HOW TO PRINT OUT A COPY OF THE ROUND, I RETURNED TO CART TO WRITE IT DOWN THE CART HAD BEEN TAKEN. RETURNING TO THE CLUB HOUSE STILL NO PRINTOUT

I DECIDED TO LEAVE WENT TO THE BAG DROP FOUND MY BAGS DROPPED ON THIER SIDES HALF ON THE WALKWAY AND UPPER HALF ON THE DRIVE 0- STARS. A BRANDNEW CUSTOM MADE MIZUNO 3 IRON WITH DINGS HANGING OUT OF MY BAG

a must play in san antonio. Great views of hill country and could actually see the tower downtown on some holes. A few blind tee shots and sloping fairways make it a pretty challenging course. Definitely bring extra golf balls. Staff was very friendly

This is the most awesome course I played.The fairways and greens are in excellent conditions.
As a high handicapper, I enjoyed the toughness of this course.

The course was beautiful and the entire staff was great. The greens and tee boxes are perfect.
