Callippe Preserve Golf Course

Pace of play was very good, but started before 8am. Greens are inconsistent with speed, but overall are in good shape. Back nine is a lot more challenging so play smart and try and score on the front. We started on the back 9. Course plays very tough in the wind

Interesting and fun course. Greens at fairways are in great shape . Clean clubhouse and friendly staff that worked there . I will repeat and recommend

The greens that have been treacherous, have been improved, but they are difficult to read the subtle breaks, as I rarely had a straight putt. The grain is easy to see. Otherwise the greens are great, just tough to make putts. You really have to know these greens to score well here.
The fairways lack the nice grass in spots, otherwise the grass is good. It's like some sprinklers are not working here and there, and also in the landing areas.

The course was in good shape for this time of year with the drought. The course is very playable for all levels. Generous landing areas for drives was much appreciated and the greens were is wonderful shape. Golf now made the price reasonable ($43).

Very interesting, very scenic, great layout, no negatives except pace of play...that was caused by a very slow group, marshal did his best to move them along, but that happens - I won't blame course for one bad group. Practice area is fine, carts have GPS . Looking forward to playing here again.

I have no idea why courses let people walk late in the afternoon, courses rates should include a cart, it was an over 5 hour round, walkers in front of us and in front of them.

Very good course, but. Extremely slow play. No martial of course to help keep play moving. 15 minutes late to tee off and 5 hour round. Greens were slower than putting green and disappointingly slow. They were in good shape though.

The course is in great shape and I highly recommend playing it right now.

Really surprised to see this course in such good shape. A lot of courses are struggling around here with the obvious drought. This course was in fantastic shape considering everything going on. Green were extremely hard and fast, tough to get the right speeds.

Great views of the East Bay on the back nine when you start climbing up the hills. We tee'd off around 4:30 on a Friday afternoon and were still able to get 18 in.

Bunkers were in pretty good shape too, most bunkers around this area don't have much sand so that's was nice to see.

Definitely recommend this course, good value for the money when you find a later tee time!

We played on a Thursday and it was a 5.5 hour round. There were 3 groups backed up on par 3's. I've never seen that before. I could imagine what it is like on the weekends if it was that slow on a middle of the weekday.

Beautiful golf course and fun for a mid handicapper from the white tees. Only complaint was no Marshall seen on the course and pace of play was terrible.

It was a pleasant round of golf. All three of my friends from Hong Kong enjoy playing this course saying it is one of the best Public Courses they have played in the Bay Area.

Played there several times. Poppy and Las Positas much better value, and better courses. Holes 10, and 18, besides being tough (ok to be tough) are so filled with trouble that they belong at Bridges. Food is terrible along with the little or no service. 2 waitresses were not seen for over 15 minutes. They don't have salsa! An air of superiority among many of the employees---although not the girl who checked us in at pro shop. The starter and marshall must think they are in Atherton and not Pleasanton. For anyone who shoots in 90s, go elsewhere.

The redesign of the 11th and 14th greens is a vast improvement over the old unfair design. The average hack actually can now hold the green on their approach.

A challenging course that is fun to play. Tees provide a challenge for all golfers. Greens are in good condition and require a challenging read. Ecological hazards can add strokes to your round. Sand traps were a bit "crunchy" due, I think, from new sand added and watered.

This is fun course. The front nine is pretty straightforward. The teeth come out in the back 9.

At times the greens can be a little rough, some are struggling with Poa Annua growing in. But, generally they are in good shape.

One annoyance here is the clubhouse continues to grow more intrusive. A couple months ago, they began requiring signatures for some sort of legal agreement on the first tee. Last time out I saw the started making an eight year old boy sign this agreement. I'm used to places requiring a cart agreement to be signed, but here they require walkers to sign too.

I also found that they do not make adjustments to walking rate at the course. Despite the fact that they do not offer walking rate tee times, they do not adjust down to walking rate at the course.

Callippe Preserve Golf Course is a beautiful hidden gem a few minutes south of Pleasanton, Ca.. The course was in fantastic condition for our round of golf today. As a twosome we were paired with two courteous and friendly singles. Located within a wonderful valley, protected from the wind, the layout for Callippe is both challenging and forgiving. A tremendous round of golf, at an affordable price ... heck yea I'll be back.

Course in usual excellent shape. Have leveled out previously impossible to hold greens on holes 11 & 14.

We had a great time. Some holes are a little confusing for someone playing there for the first time. Course is in excellent shape considering the drought.
