$75 To play this Course!!!
I paid $75 to play this course! By far the worst course I have ever played in the bay area! Tee boxes in the worst shape I have ever seen! Struggled to find a descent place to tee up! Fairways were patches of dirt and muddy! The bunkers are not even sand, they are dirt and some filled with water. Greens were very bumpy and difficult too putt on. Some are fast and some are slow! Pace of play was horrible! Had a tournament being held and was not announced on the courses website! Will never play this course again! And will not recommend this course to anyone!
It's all about the up keep
This course has a challenging layout, nice greens but some fairways appear to have recently been plowed. Maybe this is part of a rehab project (hopefully) but, if so, give warning or take it off the market.
I think this will be my last time playing here for some time.
I've always like playing this course. After today I think this will be my last time playing here. The course it self is just missing grass on the fairways. It's just dirt. The bunkers are just terrible. The tee boxes most of them are not flat or they are tore up. The greens I must say are in great shape. For overall maintenance it's just not there. That's sad. This is really a good course it's not maintained very well.
Course condition
Yesterday I was greeted by a friendly staff, and set out to play golf at Las Positas in Livermore. We were instructed to start our round on the back 9. About 4 holes into our round a long Par 5 was under serious renovation. Maintenance workers with tractors, were removing a 100x100 foot section of grass about midway through a 500 yard hole. It completely altered the way you had to approached the hole. As we finished the back 9, at least 2 more holes had large area’s of recent sod replacement, that were marked with (ground under repair) do not enter signs. It was not the end of the world, but it would have been nice to have been made aware of the repairs that were going on. This course is usually in a really great shape but yesterday it seemed to be dried out, I had a lot of tough lies in fairways that are usually green.
Conditions
The summer in Northern California is hot and dry. I play several courses in the Bay Area and know how challenging it is to keep them playable. That being said most courses limit their watering to the fairways and greens and usually let the rough dry out. I thought the fairways could use more attention. Even bumping the ball in fairways to find patches of grass was difficult.
Time for new staff at the Pro Shop! Terminate Dave!
This is by far the WORST experience I have had at this place! I have played the Executive course many times and the 18 hole course twice. Against my better judgment I attempted to play it again. It is just as swamp-like as the 9 hole course! Pace of play is TERRIBLE! The staff is really the issue! Dave (if that is his real name) is rude and the entire staff behaves as if they would rather be in the abyss than to be at work. They don’t answer the phones, they hang up in your face mid-booking a tee time! They are the worst! In the middle of the back 9 they turned on the sprinklers in broad daylight! All I can hope for is that you have a better experience that the 5 times I played at this course. However…. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK. Do yourself a favor and play Dublin Ranch. It’s down the street and the course is beautiful and the staff is extremely pleasant!
Terminate Dave! In fact replace the entire staff at the Pro Shop!

Great layout
Enjoyable from every tee box, helps to know the course a little but overall challenging yet fun place.
