About
Colonial Heritage Golf Club offers the only Arthur Hills-designed layout in Williamsburg, and it is also the city's only gated golf community. Golfers looking for a place where they can just 'grip it and rip it' will be out of luck on this course, which requires skill and strategy. It is a thought-provoking design where golfers will want to weigh all of the risk and reward options first. The layout plays through deep ravines that provide interesting changes in elevation. The golf course also features undulating fairways and large, fast greens that are bordered by strategically placed bunkers as well as water hazards that come into play on several holes. Colonial Heritage G.C. definitely provides a good challenge, even for a seasoned player, but beginners shouldn't feel too intimidated. The golf course offers some room for error and the risk-reward opportunities appeal to low and high handicappers alike.

great course
colonial williamsburg is a great course. challenging in many ways. great practice facilities.
bad luck of the draw - they aerated the greens last week or a week before. greens were kinda bumpy. i should have asked before booking t.
not the end of the world.

Awesome layout
First time playing this course and absolutely fell in love with it. The challenging greens and blind shots were awesome. Pace of play was perfect. Definitely coming back.

This course has a lot going for it and they are doing a good job with keeping the fairways and the tees and greens in great shape! Unfortunately though, the rough is too long! We're not playing the PGA Championship out here so I wish they could do a little bit better with that.

Challenging First Time Playing
I played 8/1/2020. Course was in great shape overall - tee boxes and fairways in great condition 8/10. Greens were good but not great 7/10 ( we had an early tee time and it rained the day before. they started to get faster and better towards the end of the round as they dried out). The course plays longer than stated yardage due to elevation changes. Several holes require blind shots over hills or around corners into tight greens. If you're a long driver, be ready to play 3 wood off the tees for many holes. The elevation changes were pretty unique to the area with intersting hole layouts that challenge the player to make some tough risk/reward decisions. Good course overall - would definitely recommend. Im not military but they offer a $15 military discount.

Absolutely lovely course!
We played on a 95 degree plus day. It was after 1 pm and the course was pretty empty. We LOVED the layout. The course was beautifully maintained, staff friendly, and pace of play extremely fast. We cannot wait to play again!

Don’t underestimate this “short” course
Great course! Starter gave great overview that helped me during the round. There are some challenging holes but not unfair. No tricks. Just make sure to play from the right tee box. Don’t get fooled by the total yardage. Will definitely come back again.

Lots of Blind Shots
Course was in good shape, but no hole layouts on signage or card and lots of doglegs with bliond spots made it very challenging for first time players

Fred is the Best
Terrific course, breathtaking greens, and terrific golf experience. Most notably, the entire staff was amiable, upbeat, and professional. A special SHOUT OUT to the world's greatest starter - Fred. He gave us sensational advice, kick-started our play with encouraging and supportive enthusiasm, and made us feel valued and welcome. We cannot wait to return and play again and again.
