Woke up with covid symptoms so we stayed home. They charged us anyway. Won’t go back.

Bump bump bump. Hard to putt a three foot putt.

Too many different grasses on greens

Tee boxes were bare. Sand was all little stones and never raked.

Really enjoyed the day here! I will definitely be back for more!

Driving range was closed due to too much water.

The greens on the course were a bit too bumpy for my liking. Some of the tee boxes need a bit more grass, it looks like they haven’t really looked after them recently, they were a bit thin. Not in the best of shapes all around at the moment, we all know it’s usually better than this.

They locked us inside the golf course because the crappy Marshall didn’t check for golfers on 16 and 17 before dark and we had to walk a mile back to our trucks.

Great views and undulations. Greens are fast and in great shape, pin placements seemed impossible (placed on hills with no stop option) But great fun, highly recommend

I have been playing this course for over 40 years; before it was 36 holes. I have seen this course go from the best conditions and the best maintained in Ventura County, to one of the worst in both of those categories.

I had not played this course in over a year, so I decided to get over there and play. I should have gone to one of the Ventura courses, as they are better maintained and in better condition than the lakes course here.

Fairways: fairways are sparse and there is no really good lies in the fairway, and even worse lies in the rough.

Greens: Greens look like they have not been mowed in over a week. They were shaggy and bumpy.

It appears that American Golf is cutting corners to make money. I talked to a maintenance employee who told me that they have drastically cut the grounds staff, AND they have to also help maintain Saticoy Regional Golf Course (another American Golf Property). No wonder the course conditions are worse than before.

Until American Golf invests more in this property with staff and infrastructure, or ceases to operate here, I will look for other places to play.

A few years ago, the lakes at river ridge was one of the best public courses in the county. No it’s just a shadow of what it used to be. Greens are inconsistent and not well taken care of. Tee boxes are unkept. Being in the fairway doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll have a decent lie. Pace of play was atrociously slow and no Marshalls to monitor this, like there used to be. Pro shop staff seems unhappy, like they don’t want to be there and they don’t want to be helping customers. The starter was friendly enough however. A lot of the holes are well designed, Shame they aren’t kept a bit tidier.
