About
Talega Golf Club is one of southern California's treasures, offering a challenging Fred Couples layout that sits above the "Spanish Village by the Sea." The course winds through canyons and valleys offering scenic views of the surrounding countryside throughout. The diverse layout will test your shot-making skills and there are also several interesting risk-reward opportunities including two reachable par 4s that will please long hitters. There is an abundance of bunkers coming into play, especially along the fairways, and golfers will be faced with the occasional blind shot. The greens are extremely quick and not a single one is flat. Nearly every green has multiple tiers. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. One of Talega's most memorable holes is the monstrous 13th. This par 5 requires a carry over not just one but two ravines.

Disappointing
Very disappointed. Almost 5-1/2 hour round. Fairways not in the best shape. The rough was extremely thick. Will not be playing there again.
Talega
Pace of play at 5 hours. Never saw a ranger come out.
Fairway in terrible shape
Nobody around to help with bags from bag drop. Didn’t allow us to take the cart to the parking lot, so had to carry everything (my father is 94 years old)
This course used to be in great shape with good service. Pity.
Ugly conditions
Fairway is bad. Grass are death and dirt path
Not recommend for over 100 dollars twilight
Horrible
This course over the years has gotten worse. The conditions are awful. Maintenance is atrocious. It’s a dog track. I’m not gonna play here again. And $89 is a total ripoff. This course used to be in immaculate condition. I used to love coming to Talega because of the attention to detail and the price was fair. Now it has just gone downhill. Like nobody cares.
Almost really good
Talega is undoubtedly a good course. Good layout and well maintained plus some of the better greens in the area. Major pain point is - you guessed it, pace of play. If you're okay with long waits on almost every hole then check it out.
First timer
Course in good condition for this time of year. However, the washrooms were locked on the course. As well, pass of play was slow and the only time we saw a Marshall was to tell people to leave the course at sunset.
Nice track, could be in better shape
I love this course. Greens were fast and in great shape. Fairways pretty thin and bare/brown in lots of spots. This is a great value if you can land a Hot Deal special price. And they have added sand to the traps( which were formerly hard pack). I’ll be back
Set low expectations
Greens were in very good condition, but fairways and tee boxes were in terrible condition. Cart died halfway through the round also
