About
Talega Golf Club is one of southern California's treasures, offering a challenging Fred Couples layout that sits above the "Spanish Village by the Sea." The course winds through canyons and valleys offering scenic views of the surrounding countryside throughout. The diverse layout will test your shot-making skills and there are also several interesting risk-reward opportunities including two reachable par 4s that will please long hitters. There is an abundance of bunkers coming into play, especially along the fairways, and golfers will be faced with the occasional blind shot. The greens are extremely quick and not a single one is flat. Nearly every green has multiple tiers. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. One of Talega's most memorable holes is the monstrous 13th. This par 5 requires a carry over not just one but two ravines.

course is in good shape the greens are perfect condition
Definitely won’t be returning
Payed $130 to play this course on Easter Sunday.
We arrived early hoping to get some drinks and food before our round of golf. The staff was extremely rude and explained we don’t have food unless you have a reservation. We had a reservation for our T time but needed a restaurant reservation in order to eat.
I find it extremely frustrating that the golf course wouldn’t accommodate the people also Golfing.. not just the people there for Easter brunch.
The golf carts are low quality, range finder isn’t even close to accurate.
We were getting hit on all day, pace was extremely slow. We had a 4 sum in front of us that was playing 2-3 balls each. Which is extremely rude and inconsiderate. I called the office many times to get a Marshall there to speed them up. Nobody came, nobody answered the phone or called me back.
A young man who works at the golf course drove passed us and I asked him to ask the group ahead to speed up and he said he would.
He drove right passed the group and nothing changed for the remaining of the day.
I will not be coming back
Great Fred Couples course.
Good track. Lots of bunkers but in the right places. The new sand is fluffy and a big improvement. Wish the 19th hole would reopen!
Lack of service
Course was in decent shape greens were in good shape but extremely slow. No service whatsoever from bag people or starter bathrooms were filthy
Not a $130 course
No ball washes anywhere. No beverage cart anywhere. C’mon, we are post pandemic. A player showed up late so instead of putting him with a pair or threesome, the starter let him go alone. Pond by 5th hole seems to be worked on for years, not weeks. Same issue for some traps. Seems like a never ending story getting the course looking and playing well. YEARS ago this was considered a pristine course. Now, far from it.
No Resources
Golf course has a good and interesting layout. Through the winter, course conditions were adequate but as the growing season has started, the course is woefully under maintained. Staff is friendly and tries but they cannot keep up with the volume of play. 20 minutes to get a drink at turn but there is no water on the course and no cart service. Course charges premium fees and is generally fully booked but it operates like it’s on the verge of bankruptcy.
Enjoyable round
We got hot deal in last minutes. Really round even we played here many times.
