Talega Golf Club is one of southern California's treasures, offering a challenging Fred Couples layout that sits above the "Spanish Village by the Sea." The course winds through canyons and valleys offering scenic views of the surrounding countryside throughout. The diverse layout will test your shot-making skills and there are also several interesting risk-reward opportunities including two reachable par 4s that will please long hitters. There is an abundance of bunkers coming into play, especially along the fairways, and golfers will be faced with the occasional blind shot. The greens are extremely quick and not a single one is flat. Nearly every green has multiple tiers. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. One of Talega's most memorable holes is the monstrous 13th. This par 5 requires a carry over not just one but two ravines.

Talega golf

In the past 5 years nothing has changed much at the golf course. The sand traps are inconsistent at best some have very little sand, some too much sand )poor quality). The greens a always slow. I like the course but they could do so much better.

Beautiful course

Well maintained greens, great layout and a fairly challenging course. A little on the pricey side though.

Don't Waste Your Time

I've played Talega roughly 5-6 times this year. This was my last round. The place continues to go into the dump. Rumor has it some billionaire bought it about four years ago and doesn't put any money into, he just uses it as a status brag to say he owns a golf course in Orange County, CA. What a complete waste of land and Fred Couples' time to just let a course go trash like this. It used to be amazing over a decade ago. If you don't care about golf, don't own a course like this.

P.S. If you pay over 50 bucks with a cart for a full 18 at this place, LMK and I will give you my Venmo so you can throw some more money away!

Bunkers are trash

This used to be a great course but for $130 per person, you would think there would be sand in the bunkers. Bunkers were basically hard pan and dirt. Tee boxes were in shotty shape and fairways burnt out. For the money, there are much better courses to play in Orange County and the inland empire.

Best in San Clemente

I would give it 5 stars but it didn't have warm up range and chipping area. Layout is fair but need local knowledge to score. Greens are a little bumpy and a tad slow but it's the best greens I've hit so far in the area. Best part is the people, both the guys I played with and the golf shop.

Definitely not worth $100

First time playing Talega and I was pretty disappointed. For $100 I expected much better conditions! The course was dry and a little crispy in the fairways and tee boxes. Greens were probably the best part of the course, they were bumpy but not bad for being late afternoon on a Saturday. The pro shop looked like they were getting ready to move, very little merch and the guy that helped me could have a little friendlier. Apparently the course hasn't been worth $100 in years, thats coming from one of the locals that plays it quite often.
