Talega Golf Club
About
Talega Golf Club is one of southern California's treasures, offering a challenging Fred Couples layout that sits above the "Spanish Village by the Sea." The course winds through canyons and valleys offering scenic views of the surrounding countryside throughout. The diverse layout will test your shot-making skills and there are also several interesting risk-reward opportunities including two reachable par 4s that will please long hitters. There is an abundance of bunkers coming into play, especially along the fairways, and golfers will be faced with the occasional blind shot. The greens are extremely quick and not a single one is flat. Nearly every green has multiple tiers. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. One of Talega's most memorable holes is the monstrous 13th. This par 5 requires a carry over not just one but two ravines.

Fun Course.
Talega is a fun course. Greens could be faster, but overall not too bad.
Challenging but Fun
I understand this course has been renovated. It is certainly in good shape. The green were recent aerated, so a little slow. The three of us adjusted. Only complained is we couldn't see the fairway from the white tees and were still confused after consulting the handbook we were given. Finally spotted a white flag, and that helped. Turned out we had two birdies and one par on the short par-5 hole. We plan to return. I was a halfway meeting place.. I came down from L.A., my two friends came from San Diego area.
Rip off
125 for a round and the greens weren’t completely healed from their last punch. The fairways are brownish. Not the best shape. I definitely don’t recommend to place this place at this rate and condition.
peaceful gem
Played this peaceful and beautiful course many times, love it very much.
Talega is always a good place to golf.
We played when the greens were punched so can't really speak for the greens, but other than that the course was in really good shape.
No complaints except that general pace of play is quite slow... I guess it's the fact that a lot of older white people come here given that it's in San Clemente and they like to take their time to play, not caring about whose behing them and what not.
It's not a hilly course with lots of undulation, but it's difficult in that you need to position well as there are a lot of hazards and out of bounds if you mishit your shots. But it is nevertheless a fun, challenging course and sure worth the $23 we paid for a 2:40 tee time!
Not worth $$$
The course is not in good shape, weeds growing out the fairways. The greens were super bumpy. Super disappointed. There are a lot of course in this price Category.
Good place to play
This is a good track to play. For what you pay it may be overpriced.
The golf course is easy to find. Like most golf courses the bag drop is not attended. Once on the property the staff is friendly however the restroom facilities remain closed and the only available is on the south end of the club house.
The course is in good condition. No rakes in the bunkers.
Pace of play was 5 hours. The restaurant or a cart person we’re not available during my round which was unfortunate.
I would play this track again but it’s certainly not worth the hundred plus dollars.
Ok at a discount
Greens are too bumpy. Show lack of interest to bring course to the next level
Nice Parkland course
I love to play Talega, very friendly staff and good pace of play. Fairways are not in best conditions. Nice greens.
