Talega Golf Club
About
Talega Golf Club is one of southern California's treasures, offering a challenging Fred Couples layout that sits above the "Spanish Village by the Sea." The course winds through canyons and valleys offering scenic views of the surrounding countryside throughout. The diverse layout will test your shot-making skills and there are also several interesting risk-reward opportunities including two reachable par 4s that will please long hitters. There is an abundance of bunkers coming into play, especially along the fairways, and golfers will be faced with the occasional blind shot. The greens are extremely quick and not a single one is flat. Nearly every green has multiple tiers. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. One of Talega's most memorable holes is the monstrous 13th. This par 5 requires a carry over not just one but two ravines.

My Favorite Course
The course is in decent shape, fairway is nice, and green is perfect. I wish they can put a little money to improve the bunkers. Great group to play together. Nice pace. Will come back playing more.
Talega
Great course. Fun and challenging layout. Greens are in good condition but are pretty slow. Staff is great especially the starter, Carlos.
Play it at least once. Very worth it.
Great layout, LOVE the back 9 especially due to the variety of shots required and lots of par 5 and 3s. Worth playing it at least once, I can’t see any issues with this course.
Great course but...
Put the rakes out for the traps. If the sheep don’t want to touch them, fine. But there’s no proof of the rakes transferring the plandemic. Traps were terrible
Disappointment
I was a past fan of Talega since it’s opening, drawn by the fact that Freddy Couples designed it and the bunkers were filled with crushed marble. Flash forward 20 years to last weekend where I was transported to a worn out, unkept course that just looked tired. There was a party the night before and at 10:00am the Wycliff champagne bottle was still out in the courtyard with signs of clean up to come, inside and out...eventually. When I asked for the key to the cart, the too cool cart dude replied,”What for, you’re not going anywhere?” Okay dude... The course is best described as worn, with bunkers that are now more concrete than crushed marble. The greens were in very good condition. Carlos was the highlight of the day. He was nice, helpful and just wanted to make sure everyone was having a good time. Great job.
If you are looking for a round of golf, then it is over priced. If you are looking for that special round, Talega needs to step it up, invest a few dollars and send the boys off to finishing school. In today’s market, there are too many choices to settle for mediocre.
Good course but a bit shabby
Dry Fairways, chewed up tee boxes, bumby greens. Course needs a little TLC.
Enjoyed course tremendously.
Challenging course - The condition, course layout, and pace of play was good +++. I will be returning every opportunity I can get when the price range is favorable to me. Fun course that I enjoyed Tremendously.
Fun layout, lots of bunkers.
Started off a little slow but then the twosome in front dropped out after 3 holes. 4.5 hr. round on a Sunday afternoon wasn't horrible. Greens are in great shape right now.
Great time
First time I’ve ever played that the Tolaga golf course had a great time
Excellent but challenging Course
This is currently my favorite course in Southern California. It’s in great shape and it’s a very challenging layout with hazards in play on every tee shot including a way cool blind shot late in the round. Greens are tough with many large breaks but in great shape. Staff is very friendly and the twilight rate is well worth it
