Talega Golf Club is one of southern California's treasures, offering a challenging Fred Couples layout that sits above the "Spanish Village by the Sea." The course winds through canyons and valleys offering scenic views of the surrounding countryside throughout. The diverse layout will test your shot-making skills and there are also several interesting risk-reward opportunities including two reachable par 4s that will please long hitters. There is an abundance of bunkers coming into play, especially along the fairways, and golfers will be faced with the occasional blind shot. The greens are extremely quick and not a single one is flat. Nearly every green has multiple tiers. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. One of Talega's most memorable holes is the monstrous 13th. This par 5 requires a carry over not just one but two ravines.

Poor condition particularly for the price

$130 for the round and the condition was that of a poorly managed muni. Greens were ok, the rest of the course was poorly maintained. Haven’t played here in awhile but the maintenance issues seem to persevere at Talega. Pity.

Great course layout but fairways are beat...they badly need water and professional care.

This is a fantastic course badly in need of attention. Fairways are very hard and dry. Such a shame to see a wonderful course in such really bad shape. Still worth playing though.

Good course

This was my third time playing in last month. Love the course, great views, challenging greens. Love playing here, especially the back 9. The only downfall is that everything is closed. The atmosphere off the golf course is non existent. No bar, no pro shop, eerily quiet. Other than that, highly recommend! Staff was very cool as well.

Nice challenging course. Great views. The clubhouse & proshop were nonexistent. I’ve been around a lot of Orange County & San Diego golf courses since covid. This course feels like covid ruined it.
