Foxtail Golf Club - North Course
About
Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park offers two championship courses, the North and the South, situated in the heart of wine country. The North Course originally opened in 1974 but underwent a major renovation that completely redesigned the layout, improving its conditions and making it more challenging. The par-72 North is considerably longer and more difficult than the par-71 South. The North features multiple doglegs and strategically placed sand traps that will test even the most experienced players. To make the golf course a bit more approachable, water hazards don't play a prominent role, though they do appear on a few holes, and the forward tees are very player friendly. With 36 holes available, Foxtail G.C. is able to host tournaments and events while still having another 18 holes open to the public.

Nice course
Fairways and greens were in good shape. Tees needed to be mowed. Rough needed much mowing. Thought I was dealing with US Open conditions. Very hard to find my ball even if it was just off the fairway. Very good practice area. Challenging course but generally fair.
Awful pace of play
Took 5 hours and 10 minutes for 18 holes. Checked in for our 12:10 tee time with the starter at 12:08. He let the 12:00 tee time putt before they went off cause there was no one in front of them. We got pushed back. Ended up taking forever.
Rough is way too deep and putting out of bunkers
Stay out of the rough or you will lose your ball. Slows the pace of play as every group is walking around looking for balls in the thick, deep rough. The bunkers are so hard you can put out of them around the green.
Greens and fairways are in great condition as long as you can stay in them you’ll have a good day.
Bunkers for days
Played both sides now. I like the south side better. However my friend loved the north better. He Got a hole in 1/eagle on 16 par3. Stole my thunder on my birthday lol. It is across from the south side. Little sketchy getting to the first hole through a red light on a busy intersection to a lonely guy sitting at a podium who collects your receipt so don’t lose it. The greens were freaking unbelievable. I have only been playing 2 years but been to allot of courses in Northern California the greens are the best there. The rough around the greens were pretty penalizing but you could jump it out good if you hit it clean. Finesse baby
Best in a long time
I’ve played Foxtail south a few times befor and this time the course was. In the best condition the tee boxes, fairways and greens were in great conditions. The rough was not as bad as my other experiences. Only lost 3 balls.
Great course
Best layout in the north bay. Fun course offered an array of different types of holes
Foxtail South
Rough was up and super penalizing. I love three or four balls to the rough. Greens were recently punched but almost recovered. Course was pretty wide open for a Saturday. We got around quickly. Our electric golf cart died on Hole 15. I think we may have retrieved it from the wrong location initially. My step-son made his second ever par on the 17th hole with a 40-footer down the slope…so that was exciting for him!
Pace of play
Unfortunately the pace of play at this course is consistently poor. Every hole has a waiting period of about 5 mins, and then again in the fairway you are waiting to play your next ball.
Great course for the price
Played the south course for the first time and it was great. Greens were good, and the overall condition of the course was good.
Upgrading a bit
Decent course for the money. Some short par 3’s detract. They’ve redid a couple Tess on front side. Greens always quick and pure.
Course is in good shape
Back nine North was closed for green aeration. Played back nine of South
Very nice golf club
Very nice course, good condition, nice layout,,good test of golf!! Love this course and also the south course is also very nice!!
Nice course cheaper then the north but you can tell it doesn’t get as much attention from grounds crew as the north and some of the tee boxes need some fixing
Solid Track
Course conditions were suspect. Layout and course design were great.
