Foxtail Golf Club - North Course
About
Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park offers two championship courses, the North and the South, situated in the heart of wine country. The North Course originally opened in 1974 but underwent a major renovation that completely redesigned the layout, improving its conditions and making it more challenging. The par-72 North is considerably longer and more difficult than the par-71 South. The North features multiple doglegs and strategically placed sand traps that will test even the most experienced players. To make the golf course a bit more approachable, water hazards don't play a prominent role, though they do appear on a few holes, and the forward tees are very player friendly. With 36 holes available, Foxtail G.C. is able to host tournaments and events while still having another 18 holes open to the public.

Overall, just not very well maintained. Greens rolled fine, but the tee boxes and fairways were just beat up. A little TLC and could be a decent public course.
Great two courses North more challenging
I have been playing Foxtail for over 10 years and love the courses. The south is more fun for practice. The North is more challenging and in better shape overall. I highly recommend playing Foxtail.
Mediocrity at it's finest
Foxtail South has been an affordable staple with available tee times for myself as a new / high handicapper.
Over the last 18 months I've played, the quality of fairways has declined rapidly. There are large brown patches of solid dirt with cracks on various holes.
The greens have declined slightly but are the highlight of this course.
Bunkers may as well be clay or concrete.
The course is nice and wide, not too narrow on most holes.
The scenery lacks relative to other local course options.
If fairway upkeep got back in gear, and green quality stopped slipping fox south will continue to be a solid course.
As a solid value, I want to buy a membership, but, if it keeps declining I will pass come January.
Poor condition
I liked the layout and the course design. The fairways are very bad. Alternate plots of dried grass, and muddy squishy sections. The greens were pretty good and maintained well. The sand traps were mostly awful - some mud pits, packed dirt, and some have puddles in them.
Uneventful
If it wasnt for the greens being in good shape this course is better used to feed cattle. Layout is average at best. Fairways and tees were in average shape considering the drought. Bunkers were in the worst shape I've seen in a long time. You can tell they completely ignore them.
I will not play the south course again.
Great track!
This is by far one if the best courses in Sonoma on Golf Now. Tree lined redwoods on every hole, lush fairways, greens and tees. I was amazed at how green everything was with current mega drought conditions. Just an awesome day!
Nice course, but slow play annoying
I played Foxtail North for the first time yesterday and enjoyed the course layout. It is in generally good condition. Pace of play on the front 9 was painfully slow. On some holes there were 4 groups at one time. I did not see any marshals on the course to keep it moving. Also, there was a family of 4 - two of them children who the father was teaching how to play which seems inappropriate on this type of course.
Pace of Play
Experience a very good pace of Play. I guess the relatively warm weather forecasted accounted for low demand, but the weather turned out to be confortable and calm. Our tee time was 1:45 pm and wind basically disappeared after three holes and the temperature never got out of the 70s.
Nice pace of play, good greens
This is a very enjoyable course for those not wanting a Pete Dye type challenge. Straightforward with some interesting holes and excellent greens. There are some dried out areas of cracked earth that are not playable but most of the course is in good shape.
