Foxtail Golf Club - North Course
About
Foxtail Golf Club in Rohnert Park offers two championship courses, the North and the South, situated in the heart of wine country. The North Course originally opened in 1974 but underwent a major renovation that completely redesigned the layout, improving its conditions and making it more challenging. The par-72 North is considerably longer and more difficult than the par-71 South. The North features multiple doglegs and strategically placed sand traps that will test even the most experienced players. To make the golf course a bit more approachable, water hazards don't play a prominent role, though they do appear on a few holes, and the forward tees are very player friendly. With 36 holes available, Foxtail G.C. is able to host tournaments and events while still having another 18 holes open to the public.

Good track
The round on Monday afternoon played well with a little waiting on some holes. The course was in very good shape.
grass is long in the rainy season. rough is pretty rough and you can lose your ball easily given how long grass is
This course still has bad drainage issues
The South course still has bad drainage issues. Fairways are underwater, bunkers have large pools of water and even the cart paths are under water. The North course is in much better shape.
Good local course
Fairways in good shape and had been mowed. The rough needs to be mowed in some areas to make finding your ball as our whole group lost several balls in it.
A bit wet
Great Staff, Good Course. Just a bit muddy, and a several holes were ‘cart path only’ (Unknown why, only rain lightly for a few hours, 11 days ago).
Also be aware there were no handicap cart flags. I rode with a handicap player and he was only able to complete 11 holes could not continue walking to his ball. Back and knees issues.
Great Course
North course was beautiful and curated. The starter was so kind and helpful. Polish dogs were great. Overall great experience even considering the Friday pace.
foxtail south
Greens were perfect but course was wet from previous rains
Bunkers were full of water
We were supposed to play with another couple, but no announcements were made and we did not know who they were
More interaction from starter or pro shop would have been better
Also, pace was very slow - saw a marshall once but that id not increase pace of play even though it is noted everywhere that it shoud take 4hours and 15 minutes to play
Money's worth
Tee time is on schedule, pace of play was fast, medium challenge, fairway could be better condition, greens were on the fast side, left many birdies on the green, definitely return, good value for money.
Terrible fairways
Putting greens were awesome. Love the course but the problem was the fairways. The fairways were way too muddy and smelled like sewage.
South Course Needs Help!
Broken irrigation lines litter the course. Hard packed clay with deep cracks between soggy mud holes are a feature of most fairways. Burnt out dead grass surrounds many greens. 5-some high schoolers walk the course with zero awareness of the pile ups behind them followed by the coach calling an extended huddle on the 18th green. The staff and facilities are great, but I’d never pay more than $30 to play the south course. This course is due for a major overhaul!
Nice Course
First time playing the North Course. Would highly recommend. Greens were great, course has numerous bunkers in good shape and challenging hole layouts. Played in 4 hours on a Wednesday afternoon. However, have been told by the people I was paid with that was the exception to the rule as it is normally pretty slow.
Average course
Choose the north course over this one any time.
Last time I played this course was in 2020. It hasn't changed one bit. There's still drainage problems and fairways are not in great shape and sand traps could be a whole lot better. For the price that I paid which was $70, I think this was way too much for it. I would. I wouldn't pay more than 30 bucks for this course in the morning.
Transparency
The north course is great (usually). When I got to the first green I realized why the green fee was such a deal: aerated greens…..
……….
……… with sand so putt away!
The only thing I ask is that courses let golfers know up front that they are aerating.
