Yucaipa Valley Golf Club
About
Nestled in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains, Yucaipa Valley Golf Club enjoys a stunning backdrop on most of its holes. The beautifully maintained course is certified as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. Yucaipa Valley offers the unique combination of being both challenging and affordable, for this reason it's a local favorite. The layout is player friendly enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels. It's not terribly formidable but the greens can be challenging because of the slope and speed. There are also a few strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides and the occasional water hazard comes into play. The 13th is the signature hole at Yucaipa Valley Golf Club. This tricky par 3 has a severely undulating green bordered by out-of-bounds on the right and water on the left.

Must Play
Course looks in great condition. Best I've seen in all my visits. A course I will continue to return to.
course in great shape
The course was in really good shape be warned if you end up in the rough can be challenging to advance it very far and a course employee came round with cold water which was pretty neat only complain was the twosome in front of us were very slow didn't play "ready golf" we counted 7 practice swings on one shot took forever to line up putts and had the golf cart parked in front of green on pretty much every hole including the par threes a little golf etiquette needed
Great Local Course
Always enjoy playing here. You can hit for the flag the greens always hold you shot.
great course
Nice manicured fairways, but greens can get messy with ball divets.
Need course marshal to increase pace of play.
Played here at least 30 times. Many players I have seen do not practice ready golf. Too many play "TV golf". Do not play behind the senior men's club- better known as the human rain delay.
Nice track!
The course is in great condition. The greens are fairly difficult to read as far as speed was concerned. They just cut them and they were very inconsistent. However, the challenge was welcome. The overall course is challenging and yet forgiving with a few parallel fairways to save you from an errant tee shot. This course is for all levels of golfer and I would highly recommend Yucaipa Valley GC on your golfer's bucket list .
Helpful, friendly, great value
Staff was friendly and very helpful (starter at #1 came out later to bring us ice water!). Course played well, even though the greens had been punched less than two weeks earlier; greens slow but consistent. One very nice thing about Yucaipa is that it's about 10-degrees cooler than anything in the San Bernardino Valley during this time of year.
We appreciate the great comments! Despite the heat of summer and the lack of seasonal rainfall, the course continues to improve and is currently in excellent shape. Our staff is committed to providing an exceptional service experience throughout your visit to Yucaipa Valley Golf Club. Conditions will only continue to improve as we get closer to the fall season!
great shape
course was in probably the best shape i have seen it. the rough was ,well, rough.could have been trimmed a little lower.overall, from tee to green,a great job in maintaining the fairways and greens.course could use better yardage markers.we figured out the 150 yd. markers were the red /white striped . i always thought the 150 was white and the 100 was red. a little confusing at first, but no problem.recommend this course to anyone,a fun place to play.
Shaping up!
I had given up on this course due to the LACK OF PRIDE! The course was in poor shape the last few times I had played here. Now...It looks like someone cares...The course is shaping up and looking pretty good. Great job!
Nice course in the am
They had a men's league and the pace was horrible they need to warn people on schedule what is going on the day you play. They were late and sat on the green for 20 min. Then they disappeared on the 16 th hole????
Fun Course
This is not our first time playing this course,it always
has some challenges. Beautiful afternoon for our round.1130 tee time not rushed but we let 3 singles by us.All of the course was in exc. shape, all the staff were great. Will be outstanding when the clubhouse is completed.
fun golf couse in yucaipa
I think this golf couse is graet set up, look and design but do something about grass. almost every second shot need to cheet.
Tricky greens
The course was in great shape. The rough which has been too long in the past was not too long. However the pins were tucked behind bunkers which made scoring more difficult for average players such as myself. My advice would be to put the flags near the center of the green to help average players such as myself as the greens themselves are quite challenging already. Overall the course is very well maintained and it was a very pleasant round.
Great Value with Golf Now
Friendly staff and course was fairly well kept. I would definitely golf there again.
Avoided the winds
It was nice to play in light winds while the Santa Ana winds were howling a few miles away. It looks like they are putting some money into the course. Although the greens were slow, they looked great. Fairways are also in good shape. What causes the conditions to rate a 3 are all of the near golf ball size rocks in fairway and green side bunkers alike. Many below the surface and a shock when you hit one. Some time spent sifting would make a huge improvement.
As always the staff were all great and welcoming. I'll still play here but work on the traps is a must.
Greens are coming back but overall not worth the time or money
Good things first, poor things second. The two good things about our round were the pace of play (twosome played in right at 3 hours but only because it had rained quite a bit the night before and the weather scared everyone away) and the greens were in pretty good shale considering they punched and sanded about a month ago. Other than that at $45 a person it wasn't worth our time or money. The shop staff seemed to have not been trained very well as it was difficult to get checked in and on top of that their snack bar/ beverage counter didn't open up until 10:30! No coffee, no nothing! The cart guy seemed as if he was the only person there who had any idea how things were running! The course was very thin and sparse throughout the fairways which was very irritating. Hitting a drive or shot into the center of the fairway actually penalized you because of the horrible shape they were in. Like I said our pace was good as were the greens but being that we are now at the end of April this course should be performing at top levels and it's just a shame that it's not. Unless you can get a super cheap rate and you like playing 5+ hour round and seeing fivesomes all over the place, stay clear of a Yucaipa! I'm not sure they're ever gonna get this right. It's been this way for a long time.!
Revisit in one month
In the past this course was the hidden gem worth driving from the inland empire to play. More recently it has been going through its own issues of dried out fairways poor greens and even worse tee boxes. I didn't know what to expect this time around. I was pleasantly surprised to see a new clubhouse finally being built! The green are recovering nicely from recent aeration and sanding, they. Will be great in about 1 month. Tee box condition was 50/50. Lots of old tees left around and not very maintained.the fairways gave great roll out but only nice grass lies on about 60-70% of the holes. Overall worth giving another chance in about a month and possibly better when the clubhouse finishes in about 3-6 months from the look of it. I anticipate with the money being put into building management will also spruce up the course.
Spare me the fancy clubhouse; fix the fairways!
My house backs to this course, so I would love to give it great ratings. Sadly, the fairways and tee boxes are terrible. The sand traps are hard, in need of sand. The greens have always been in good condition, and challenging. They are building a clubhouse, but I hope they save some of the money for fancy decorating and put it instead into the course itself. The layout and terrain is really nice, the setting is nice, and this course has great potential. I just don't understand why they don't take better care of it. It has a reputation for slow play, but we had no problem Tuesday, and never waited at all. Sadly, the group behind us couldn't say the same thing.
slow
Very slow round. The fairways need reseeding. The greens were in good shape but the lack of grass on the fairways was disappointing.
course needs work
Have been playing here for many years off and on over the last few years. The greens were plugged a couple of weeks ago and only about half were sanded leaving open plug holes. fairways are very patchy. finally building a new clubhouse. the course needs to be maintained better.
